As A Dawg

What is: How sick is Michelle, Alex?

Really, I'd love to write you an entertaining post about a couple excellent books and an e-book I've read -- plus give you that winners' roundup I promised -- but I'm down for the count. I should be up-to-speed tomorrow and, hopefully, not be using as many similes and euphemisms for state of health.

In the meantime, check out and think "possible best debut or historical of the year..." and and think "Kathleen E. Woodiwiss for the 21st Century..."

Poor baby! Feel better Michelle!

So, since Michelle can't tell us about what she's reading, what's everyone else reading?

I just finished three M/M romances in a row. Yummy! I'm in the midst of two books: Temptation Ridge by Robyn Carr (LOVE her!) and As Shadows Fade by Colleen Gleason (LOVE HER EVEN MORE!). So I'm having a pretty good reading week!

Aw, Queen Bella! Hope you feel better soon... sending lots of hugs and good wishes to you.

I'm reading The Lover by Robin Schone, and glancing at a lot of research books.

Sorry I've been MIA for a day or two. Have been checking page proofs on my latest Black Lace and it's nearly killed me!

I hope you feel better! Seems like everyone I know is fighting off a bug.

Oh you poor thing. Three weeks ago I had a cold that took me down for a week. There's some nasty bugs going around.

I haven't read anything but the local newspaper. I'm 5 pages into the LAST chapter of my book and I can see THE END in sight.

Yay me!

P.S. My verification word is "vastly" and I hope you're vastly improved by tomorrow.

Poor you! Hope you're feeling better soon. Wrap yourself up and enjoy some down time.

Sending gentle hugs and feel better wishes your way, Michelle. We'll hold down the fort until you're back up to speed.

Kati, you lucky girl! Temptation Ridge hasn't shown up in my local stores yet. Much gnashing of teeth down here!

I've mostly been reading ARCs for review. Christina Dodd has the terrific Danger in a Red Dress coming out next week. Loved it!

I adored Kate Carlisle's debut, Homicide in Hardcover which just hit the NYT Bestseller list.

Just finished Sophia Nash's Love With the Perfect Scoundrel and fell head over heels in love with the fab hero, Michael. Very yummy!

Michelle I hope you feel better soon!

I’m reading Blood Bound by Patricia Briggs (yes Kati has struck again :o) and am loving it so far. I’ve also been reading the Bound Hearts series by Lora Leigh. Some have been pretty good and some have been eh. I’ve put down Kresley Cole’s Dark Needs at Night’s Edge for now. It’s ok I’m just not really into the whole ghost thing right now.

My local Borders--which I suspect is going to go on the chopping block--is no longer stocking new books. I have had to fly to Oregon to get new books, but I just finished Connie Brockway's SO ENCHANTED last night. How fun was that book?

Michelle, I have to second Tessa Dare as historical romance of the year. I've had the privilege of reading all three of Tessa Dare's 2009 releases, and the historical romance world is in for such a treat.

Tessa's books are funny, clever, and heart-felt. She packs an incredible emotional range into her books. They're fun without being overly fluffy and heart-warming without going over into the land of cheese. It just makes me dance with glee to know that in a few months everyone else is going to know what I know about Tessa.

:) Hope you feel better soon!

Michelle, hope you feel better SOON! Rest as much as you can - surely MPG can doctor you right up! Sending lots of healing vibes your way!

Healing thoughts coming your way ~~~~~

Courtney, now you have me intrigued by Tessa Dare's books. Must go investigate. And I'm glad Oregon could feed your book habit. We gotta do something with all the trees we grow here :)

Hey, QB! Hope you get to feeling better! Being sick stinks. Hopefully you have a nice cover picture or two of Nathan Kamp to keep you company, hehe. I wish someone on my major hottie list was here keeping me company, hehe.
Waht I'm reading. Currenly reading a harlequin, a good one by Heidi Rice 'The Tycoon's Very Personal Assistant" Need I say more, hehe?
Well, timem to go back to work. Yippeee! hehe

Aww, I am blushing! Michelle, thanks so much for the mention. I owe you and the Bellas so much--in some ways, my career started right here! I can't wait to come back and hang out again sometime soon.

And Courtney Milan can only say all that nice stuff about me because she is a LOCK for best debut and historical of 2010. :)

I hope you feel better soon, Michelle!

LOL - my veriword is "Mancoat" There's a joke there...someone else will have to think of it.

I hope you are feeling better soon Michelle!

And as for books...I'm 5 pages from the end of LKH's Swallowing Darkness. I'm really not sure if I will pick up the next one...

After that is Karen Chance's Touch the Dark and then Sarah Monette's Melusine, which I am really looking forward too!

{{{{Michelle}}} Nothing like being under the weather to make life sucky. Feel better, QB. Hugs

I'm 5 pages from the end of LKH's Swallowing Darkness.

Hm, Orannia, I've picked this book up about three times and carried it around the bookstore. But I just...I dunno. I feel like LKH could do with some good editing. I *love* the Merry Gentry series, but I've found the last couple to be too wordy and frankly, a little self-indulgent. You know?

I'm glad you said this, it convinces me even more to give it a pass until it's out in PB. Thanks!

Michelle, you poor dear! I hope you feel better soon!

I'll echo your sentiments about Tessa here. Her books are a delight and she is just a darling. It's my pleasure to be able to say I knew her when.

I've been doing some catch up reading lately. I finally got to read Suzanne Enoch's After the Scandel and it was fabulous. I've alreay gushed about Connie Brockway's So Enchanting. I also have it on good authority that Julie London's next book in her Book of Scandal series is marvelous.

It's looks like another great year for historical romances. We'll cue up on contemporaries on another day.

Hey, Bellas! Buona sera! Just had to arise (It Lives!) to check in and thank you for the warm get-well wishes. sheesh! This is a tough one; I feel like a total wimp.

Sounds like you all are doing some excellent fun reading. I've been doing some comfort reading today.

Cool news, I'm sponsoring a page in this year's Brenda Novak Auction and Nathan Kamp's agreed to donate Personalized Autographed Headshots! Brenda will be with us to kick off the auction and to wrap it up like last year! More news soon...

Back to bed for me. Lis, MPG's been very helpful with the bringing of the cranberry juice and feeding of the kids. Good call.

Buona notte, all!

Poor Michelle! Feel better soon! I'm sending lots of get well thoughts your way.

I think the romance world is in for some wonderful reading from debut authors in 2009 and 20010. Tessa Dare's writing is everything Courtney and Santa said, just an incredible combination of tender and sexy and wonderfully rich characters.

Vanessa Kelly is another 2009 debut author headed for much success IMO.

Courtney Milan has one of the most original voices I've seen in romance in a long while, and Sara Mangel's another delightful debut author to look for in 2010.

PJ, if you weren't my friend, I'd hate you for having read Danger in a Red Dress already. :) And, Santa, I think Julia London's fans are going to be very pleased with Highland Scandal.

Just talking about all these books makes me thankful I'm a romance reader.

Feel better soon, Michelle. Take care.

Hey Michelle, I hope you're feeling much better today. Seems like you just can't get a break. Hang in there!

Santa said...

I'd have to agreee that PJ is someone you'd love but simply can't - ever!

I can't wait to see what other goodies Brenda Novak will have at her auction this year. It's for a cause that is near and dear to my heart. I've already got her on my calendar.

Ditto on Courtney and Sara for great reads in 2010.

Calling all Bellas!!!! I have a dilemna that I know you can help with. I need a LOL feel good wonderful book that isn't too emotionally deep but gives a good ride.
