Mornin' Bellas! Michelle - Fantastic interview with La Nora! She's so amazing, isn't she?!

Not coincidentally, I've been on a Nora kick lately. Probably because I own more of her books that anyone elses. I actually have an entire bookshelf that is exclusively Nora books (and my Buffy DVDs on the bottom shelf, but I know Nora would appreciate that, as she's a Buffy enthusiast!). Anyway, I just re-read Carlina Moon, since I hadn't read it in a while. It features a fantastically troubled heroine and one of those amazing Southern heroes that she writes. Kincade Lavelle (call him Cade). He's that affable easy going kind that I call a "herder." He's so easy going that you don't realize he's gotten you to do exactly what he wants until you're doing it. LOL! And she's completely baffled by him, which is really fun. But yesterday, after heaving a satisfied sigh at the end of that one, I started to re-read the Three Fates. Big sigh. I loves me some Sullivan brothers.

I can't wait to read Anne Gracie's latest. You should see my dorky list of books right now, it takes up almost a huge sheet of paper. I'm going to have to take out a loan to pay for all the books! Love that!

Anyway, I'm back at work after the ice storm. Jules and other Bellas in the NE, hope you're staying warm and shoveling out!

Again, I am totally jealous of those who won those fabu prizes.

Yesterday I was reading a new author for me and the book is "Embracing the Moonlight" by Wayne Jordan who blogged for us yesterday about his experience as a male romance writer. The book is set in sunny Barbados (where it was a comfy 85 degrees yesterday as opposed to 21 degrees here). Can you tell I'm ready for spring???

Happy Day-After-Valentine's Day everyone!

I am *SO* bummed I didn't get to play yesterday. I hope Anna comes back soon... :o(

DH made up for his V-Day forgetfulness last year. I won't go into details because Michelle runs a respectable joint here, but needless to say, he *really* went all out... :o)

We are trying to get back to normal here. We got hit pretty bad with the snow and ice. Thank goodness for 4-wheel drive. Now it's just below zero temps. Yuck-o

MK- I, too, am doing NR re-reads. I'm working on her Night Tales anthologies. You can't go wrong with yummy cops and firemen. :o)

Okay... I have to out our Michelle.

Some of you know I'll be writing for Dorchester's new SHOMI line under the name Eve Kenin. DRIVEN will be out September/07. But this is no a promo blitz for that, LOL! I'm posting this news because I just got the cover jpg yesterday, and it rocks and our Michelle gave me an amazing quote. It's on the front cover and I'm so hyped.

So what was I reading yesterday? Michelle's quote.

Michelle, my darling, you do have a way with words!

Julie in Ohio said...

What's the quote, Eve?

Kati said...

Yeah, Eve, you can't drop news like that and not give us at least a tiny preview of the book...

What's it about? Tell us about the SHOWMI line, what kind of novel? Give us a little taste, you know you want to!

Kati said...

Or SHOMI line...

Darn it!

Michelle Buonfiglio said...

Ciao, Bellas! Eve, I gave the quote cause the book rocks. I can't believe how different the style is from your historicals. Say the word, and I'll post the cover. :)

Jules, we missed you yesterday. Classy joint? Feel free to share any/all details. In fact, anybody who just spent a romantic evening alone is free to share details...

Never TMI at RBtheBook, right? Gotta be consistent and democratic.

Ack! Marilyn, I actually told someone at lunch yesterday that I needed to stop by the Playground. grrr. I'm so sorry I didn't make it over there for your special day.

MK and Jules, you're makin me think I should re-read my Ches Bay NR. I think I loaned it to a friend. I'm doing a Lisa Kleypas Wallflowers re-read. She's kind of my comfort read, and since I'm still getting over being sick, and trying to avoid the work I'm behind on, it's been working nicely.

But now it's making me remember other characters' stories I need to re-read...

Hey snowbunnies! Stay warm and safe, ok? I'm a little jealous cause I love a nice snowstorm. We've just got minus zero here, and it doesn't really seem that bad once your used to it, and if the wind isn't blowing. :)

Michelle Buonfiglio said...

BTW, Blogger just forced me to Google. Apologies if it inconveniences anyone. Or perhaps I'm the only one who gets apoplectic at the thought of technical change...

Anonymous said...

Yes, yes, yes, post the cover please!

I'm at the day job so I can't do it myself right now.

You can read more about the new SHOMI line at

Bellas, you will be the very first to see this cover!

I am so upset that I missed all of yesterday, except a quick email to Michelle. She gave me the highlight of my V'day by telling me I won!! Yeah!! I can't wiat to get my prize.

I spent the day, and the crappy snowstorm, in the VA/ER with hubby and thankfully I had a brand new book still in the car. It was Bitten & Smitten by Michelle Rowen. It was big, so thankfully it kept me busy.

Hubby is doing ok. I told him he just didn't want to do anything for V'day and this was his way of getting out of it. He forgets I have the credit card. LOL

We had 20" of snow, drove home at 10pm in ice and high winds. It's cold and sunny out. Can I send anyone the snow? I had to shovel and snowblow when I got home and was out until 1130 doing it, then back again at 8am. I have now had enough of winter. The dogs can't get out the back door so I have to go walk them.

Julie in Ohio said...

YAY! I love seeing things before anyone else... :o)

Yesterday, DH bought a bouquet of flowers that he said wasn't for me. They were for our darling daughters. The cookies and donuts he bought were also for dds. I smiled and said "gee, isn't that sweet of you." That's fine. I was ok with that. Really. He let me sweat it out for a while. I was in my room reading when he comes in and says "let's go take a bath". I said fine. I walked into the bathroom and he had rose petals all over the place, candles burning on the sink that made little heart shapes on the wall, and pink champagne. It was the most romantic set up I could've imagined, and much more than I was expecting. :o)

Kati said...

Yowza Jules! No wonder you're smiling today! And I'll bet your DH has big cheesy grin today too!

Oh Bellas - I just popped over to AAR and Warlord, the third in the Warprize trilogy by Elizabeth Vaughan got an A. I'm not kidding ladies, if you haven't read this series, RUN to your bookstore for it. It is one of the most captivating and delightful series I've ever read. It's due out the same day as LOVER REVEALED, and I'm gonna be hard pressed to decide what to read first! Michelle - Any chance of getting Elizabeth Vaughan to blog with us??

Julie in Ohio said...

Ev-- I feel your wintery pain. I'm sorry about your dh. I hope he gets on the mend real soon.
I'll send you one of my kids. That's how I got my drive done... :o)

Lois said...

Oh, I love Anne Gracie! Well, since I started reading the new series. :) I still have the newest to read, but I have it in my hands (figuratively, that is! LOL) :)

Vivi Anna said...

Great interview Michelle. Bravo!

Julie in Ohio said...

LOL! MK-- I didn't realize you could see my glow in DC. DH will feel so proud... :P

And to answer your question...LOVER REVEALED.
You know that I'll be first in line at my bookstore to get it and I don't keep secrets very well... :P

Kati said...

Yeah Jules, I thought the snow was melting extra fast, and figured it must be you with your...glow on! LOL!

I was just commenting on Stacy's blog that I was trying to decide whether I'll take the day off to read LOVER REVEALED or not. I'm going to hope that Books-A-Million will shelve it early for me, and then I can stay up all night on Saturday reading it! I know, I know, I'm supposed to wait for the release date, but I don't see that happening.

Michelle - Will we have another dedicated blog to talk about the book once we have a majority who've read it?!?! Pretty, pretty please with naked oily Canna on top??

Sounds like everyone had a fabulous Valentine's Day. Ours was celebrated in Alaska with a good ol' Minnesota "hot dish" (my dh's favorite) corn bread and a bottle of white wine. Can you think of anything more guaranteed to give connoisseurs of haute cuisine a heart attack? So wrong and so right! He got a bottle of Scotch and I got a beautiful bracelet with hearts on it (I got the better deal I think). It was really quite romantic.

Then, did anyone catch the History Channel's "Modern Marvels" episode on the history of sex toys? I only caught the end - but it was pretty amazing. History and then the future - complete with what's coming in virtual sex and Internet sex. Pretty crazy.

The getaway weekend starts tomorrow so last night was beddy-bye with a Susan Elizabeth Phillips novel (Match Me if You Can). BTW - Ev, I'm loathe to admit in this wonderful crowd that I don't do many vampire novels, but I have read Bitten & Smitten. It has a great opening line and I really loved the book - funny and well-written!

Oh, Michelle - I think I have the NR Chesapeake series. I'll bring it to you in March!

Happy Day After Valentine's Bellas!

In the Roberts books I've read, she did two things (among other things)... ended the chapters in such a way that I started reading the next one, and was responsible for my tiredness the next day.

Michelle Buonfiglio said...

Hey, all! Eve's cover is not posted.

Jules, was that what drove the warming trend here in the Midwest? Yikers. Score one for your husband. SaWeet!

Yes, yes, we can have a LR day after JR Ward visits, my spoiled Bellas. Did I mention I got this new book by some chick named Singh?

Thanks very much for the nice comments about the Nora interview. I appreciate your taking the time to load it and all.

Vivi Anna said...

Damn Eve! That is some kick ass cover. I'm so jealous that you're writing for this line.

Kati said...

Darn it Eve! Just a little tidbit?!?! After seeing that cover, I'm totally intrigued! Looks like a kickass heroine, and is that a snowmobile? What's going on?!?! You can give us a blurb, cantcha?

Michelle! GASP! I hardly know what to say, you got the Singh??? See Jules? Our tandem tag teaming worked! I'm gonna start calling you "Baby Book Pimp!"

Soooo, Michelle, you're going to ask Nalini to blog with us, riiiight?!?! Of course you are.

Jeez, clearly I'm off my meds today, I'm quite to demanding Bella, ain't I??

Here's a little taste of DRIVEN:

Raina Bowen knew she could handle herself just fine against anything the frozen Northern Waste threw at her. Until it threw her an enigmatic stranger called Wizard. First she has to haul him out of a brawl he couldn’t hope to win. And next her hormones are in overdrive at feel of his hard body pressed against hers on the back of her snowscooter. But there’s something not quite right about the guy. Before she can strip bare Wizard’s secrets, they’re lured into a race for their lives, battling rival truckers, ice pirates…and a merciless maniac with a very personal vendetta.

Yeah, the heroine kicks butt... and so does Michelle's cover quote. Woo-hoo!!!

Julie in Ohio said...

ooooohhhhh, Eve!! Awesome cover. The tibit really just whets the appetite. I think that Italian chick nailed it if the cover is anything like the inside. I can't wait... :o)

Ah, I guess this means my TBR pile is going to grow by another one... :oP

Kati said...

Eve - I'd love to hear for you how it was to write a kick-butt heroine? As opposed to your gothics, where the heroine is really more of a voyeur for the action.

Mari Mancusi said...

Your cover looks totally kick butt, Eve!!! And what a great quote!

I have to say I love ALL of the covers Dorchester has done for the new SHOMI line! They should really pop on the shelves.

Can you post mine and Liz Maverick's as well, Michelle? They look so cool side by side as a group!!

Can't wait to see what you guys think of the actual books, too! :) This has been a really exciting line to be a part of. And if there are writers out there - I know that Dorchester is still actively acquiring for it. And you don't even need an agent to submit!
