Show Me The Love Day: Oh, How Did You Know It Was My Birthday?

Canna's all spiffed up -- rather than all stripped down to his Dolce & Gabbanas -- so, Bellas, it must be

"'Show Me the Love' Day"

here at RBtheBlog!

Here's the skinny on how you can help me celebrate the very best day of the year: My Birthday. It's today, btw, in case you hadn't heard.

My Birthday Contest:

Email me at (type LOVE DAY in the subject line) with your answers to the following questions. DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWERS HERE ON THE BLOG, PLEASE.

1. Name the five (5) theme weeks featured on Romance: By the Blog in 2006.
2. Read this week's Romance: B(u)y the Book feature and tell me what two (2) things every Southern belle knows.

I'll choose six winners randomly from all correct responses! Winners get one of my many favorite novels which include: "Lord of Scoundrels," "The Last Arrow," "Witch of Blackbird Pond, "By Possession,"Whitney, My Love," or the romance that inspired Romance: B(u)y the Book, "The Nerd Who Loved Me."

Grand Prize!!!

One lucky commenting Bella who shows me the love by fawning and flattering me with praise: faint, forced, or flat out fictional, wins a $25 Barnes and Noble gift card!

Ah, my teeth begin to ache with the unfeigned sweetness of it all... SO glad you're here to share my day with me!

Happy Birthday Michelle - Treat yourself to an extra slice of tira misu! Thanks for the great blog - it's been fun learning about new authors, reading about the insights of some of my favorites and chatting with all the bellas now and then. Make your family spoil you rotten!

Happy Birthday Michelle - You rock!

PS - I have Canna here at my house, he's planning to give you a massage, but I wanted to, you know, test drive him first, just in case he doesn't live up to expectations. See how I am? Always giving, never taking. That's me!

Seriously Bella - I can't write a rhyme to save my life, so I'll say this -- I love it here at RBtB! You've created a fantastic, safe and warm place for us to hang out, and talk, romance, sex and dishy guys. You bring us the brightest voices in romance and you do it all while maintaining both your dignity and your integrity. I wanna be just like you when I grow up and I'm not just saying that cause you get all those awesome books. No really!

Behold Michelle, the gal who loves romance.
We fawn, we dish, we laugh, we cry, we dance.
When Canna's here it never is by chance.
And never do we diss or slam or lance,
Cause 'Chelle would kick us in our fancy pants.

Iambic pentameter for our awesome hostess with the mostest!

I'm so very glad I stumbled upon this blog. While I might not be as active as some others, I visit every day and feel it's a necessary fix before I can really get started on my day. I mean... looking at Michelle's sweet, smiling face would get anyone's day started right. Right?

Happy Natal Day, Queen Bella!

Why is Michelle the Queen?
I can't believe you haven't seen!
She gives and gives and never stops,
She lives to please until she pops.
She gives us eye candy to see,
We don't even have to plea.
She loves her men wet,
That even includes sweat.
She recs only the best books,
even though she doesn't give us a previewed look.
She gets the best guests to blog,
We are all agog.
I don't why you haven't seen,
Why it is we LOVE OUR QUEEN!

Michelle Buonfiglio said...

Oh, Bellas. I just...well...this is all so unexpected. [delicately wiping a tear from the corner of my eye like a first runner-up at Miss America]

If I could wrap myself up in this glorious praise and girlfriend goodwill -- and roll around the floor laughing with abandon -- I surely would.

Truly. Let me say how much this means to me, your taking the time to entertain me today.

I can't wait to spend more time here after I turn in this week's column. I think I'm gonna be on time and everything. See how you inspire me?

All I want to know is who did the art work? There should be all manner of rubies, diamonds, emeralds and pearls on that gorgeous bella's picture.

Have a wonderful birthday, Queen Bella. Finding your blog was a delightful treat for me that has become a home away from home. It's particularly special because of the face time I've actually spent with you. It's not often one can meet an online buddy in person and then become great friends in person.

I hope 2007 brings you all the romance your heart can hold. Huge hugs and much love,

Julie in Ohio said...

Michelle-- I can't believe that you think we would have to make up compliments. You have given us plenty of reasons to fawn all over you. The tiara alone is worth a hundred words...
Do I need to remind you of the Italian soccer team in the shower or how about that sexy shot of Canna with his soccer ball strategically placed?
Other than the beautiful pics, you gave us an up close and personal look at Mr. Kamp, which I'm sure none of us will forget any time soon.
You have given us a place to make new friends who are into the same things. For that alone I thank you immeasurably. I treasure each and everyone of the Bellas. {smoochies}

I hope you have a wonderful birthday and I'll come back in a little bit and kiss up some more... :P

Hooray! This is so cool. I'm going to have to stop myself from doing, like, a 1/2 Birthday celebration the same way.

Oh, Santa, 23? Do I hear 21, JulieO?

I love the poetry, English school rhyme (can you say "headmaster fantasy?" I thought you could) and even one in iambic pentameter! Loves me those five beats to a line. :)

Will whomever is warming up Canna please send him along now? I'm ready for my close-up, Mr. Cannavaro.

Cake and bubbles and tira misu, dancing boys and rub-downs. You Bellas know how to do a birthday right!

Oh, Happy, Happy Day!

Michelle- Please tell us that Dave is not eligible to win anything, well, the prizes you planned on awarding us that is. What he might win would fall under the catagory of TMI!!!

I'll go 21, that way when you get proofed, they will get a wonderful surprise. And just imagine how great you will feel too!!

Michelle Buonfiglio said...

OMG, Jules, I'm LingOL! Listen, Dave won't ever know if you give me the headmaster's name. Is it Nigel? Ian? Damien? I'll trade you my Lover Revealed ARC for his email...

And if we're giving a prize for Best Really Bad Poetry, perhaps Dave's will rise to the top of the pile? Although, the content is promising. And I do love him. Guess I should hit my Erom/Erotica Keeper Shelf in preparation...

Still, Dave's showing for the party's no excuse to eschew sammiches, Vivi. It's ma birthday, after all. Hmmm...what would be the yummiest birthday sammich?

Thank you , cryna. Yes, Bella Stacy did deliver a birthday cake to me which I must keep to myself -- or risk losing my FCC license. OK, I don't have an FCC license, but if I did, I'd lose it over posting a pic of the cake she sent. Let us just say that the photo makes the phrase licking icing from one's fingers a tad obsolete, capisce?

I am not good at flattery, but I just wanted to thank you. You are wonderful person who I admire very much and look up to (you have my dream job). I love what you have done for the romance genre through your site and work. You have given romance readers a place to converse freely and discuss romance and meet others with the same interests as us (and some with different interests). Everyone is very accepting here. I appreciate what you have done with this site more than you could know. You have also provided us with some wonderful book recommendations, interviews, guests, and hot eye candy (can't go wrong with that) which has made me love you more. I love that you refer to us as is nice for feel beautiful and appreciated. So thank you Michelle for giving me something to look forward to each day...for giving us readers an outlet...and for just being you. Hugs!!! I hope you have a wonderful birthday! I look forward to a great 2007 with my favorite blogger! Maybe someday we will meet and I can thank you in person...if I am not blinded by your beauty both outside and in. :0)

Congrats not only on the birthday but on all the success this past year-plus. "Working like a dog" doesn't begin to describe how much heart and time you put into this.

Hugs, kisses and all my love.

I am not a poet, but decided to try and write a poem for you Michelle!

Here it is:

There is a woman named Michelle whose heart is full of lust
For romance books and hot heroes which are always a must.

Her blog is a fave as is her personality.
She caught my attention with her charming originality.

She adores us readers and never fails to let it show
With incredible blogs and juicy tidbits that we long to know.

She shares about books, authors, and love
And of course the hunks we can’t get enough of.

See, hot guys are a favorite, especially the strong
And with a man like Canna you "canna" go wrong.

Her Bellas are loyal and we love her no matter what,
But it doesn’t hurt that she showed us Canna’s butt. :o)

But there is more to her than just the hot guys,
She offers us opinions that are honest and wise.

The Queen B is beautiful both inside and out.
And her wonderful work is what being a romance fan is all about.

She is someone I both admire and adore,
Happy Birthday to her and I wish her many more.

Michele said...

Hey! my fairy disappeared!! I slipped into anononiminty? GASP

How'd that happen?

Guess I'm in too much awe that it's Michelle's birthday.

Does that count? That I can't function, type or live without Michelle B's blog? That to sever myself into anonymity (ack)leaves me depraved, deprived and de-treacled?
Save me!

Michelle Buonfiglio said...

I'm going to flatter myself that your flattery was mostly genuine. See how this self-love thing works? (not that kind of self-love, Vivi Anna!)

Now's my chance to wax treacly. This was probably one of my best birthdays ever. It sounds like a cliche movie review, but, I laughed, I cried.

And I realized that my gift today isn't that you came through when I begged you. It's that you always come through -- with thoughtful discussion, whether it's about romances we love/love not so much, or about someone losing a pet, or being frustrated with their husband(um, that's usually me, I guess).

I greatly admire courage, and your showing up here, your daring to delurk, tossing your feelilngs up into the ether is beyond brave.

You dare to share your differing opinions, but you do it with a smile, all the while embracing the idea that saying please and thank you -- being plain old decent human beings -- might be unpopular elswhere, but here it's de rigeur when we choose to spend time together.

You're all so creative with your poetry and limercks (I still can't spell that) and Rocky Horror references.

So I'll offer up one of my favorite sorta-quotes from Henry V that I like to manipulate for special occasions:

We few, we happy few, we Band of Sisters;
For she to-day that shares her e-friendship with me
Shall be my sister;
