4th Annual Show Michelle The Love Day (For Swank Swag)

It occurs to me that, what with all the talk about great romances and sex and pretty young boys here in the pink, there simply never is enough time to remind ourselves of all the wonders that is me.

So once I year to celebrate my birthday, I like to take a break from my continued and meteoric rise to mediocrity and give you a chance to reflect on all the things you love about Michelle Buonfiglio. Hence, I welcome you to our 4th Annual Love Day, in which I encourage you simply to offer in the comment boxes below flattering comments to me and about me in exchange for a shot at prizes.

Feel free to praise me in any form: poem, haiku, limerick, romance plot involving my life story, etc… And remember our motto: All praise welcome, the more outrageous the better, and feel free force it, feign it or create it from fantastic whole cloth.

Since our first Love Day, I’ve tried to offer you prizes of my favorite things. This year, I’d like to share with you love that includes some from my most special place: Nordstrom.

Grand Prize: $75 Nordstrom Card
1st Prize: $50 Nordstrom Card

2nd Prize: $25 Barnes & Noble Card

3rd Prize: $15 Barnes & Noble Card
(Non-US residents may rec've alternate prizes)

Please make sure your email addy’s available in your comment box or blogger.com profile to enter the contest!

Let the Love begin! And please, don’t thank me. Just go forth filled with all the beauty of having been touched by my life for one day.

Oh, darling Michelle, I'd love to compose a haiku in honor of your illustrious day, but the early hour and the cold in my head simply defeat me! So, let me just say that I love your kind nature, and all the ways you support writers no matter what stage of their career they may be stumbling through.

I love the fact that your hair is always perfectly coiffed, no matter what tempests of controversy or winds of change swirl about you. It makes me pea-green with envy!

I love the fact that you are Italian, which is an accident of birth, of course, but a felicitous one at that.

Have a glorious day, Queen of the Bellas!

jedisakora said...

Oh....

"Michelle, my belle.
These are words that go together well,
My Michelle.

Michelle, my belle.
Sont des mots qui vont très bien ensemble,
Très bien ensemble"

Ok, yes i did steal that from the Beatles. And yes i usually do sing that song to my bunny Rachel to the tune of "Rachel my belle come and get your nummies as well", but tiss the thought that count. For thy song fits so well for your eloquent composition. Thy words that filter down through the blogosphere on a sweet melody of "ode to joy". Thy roman numeral type fills me with the words of literature. Thy words of thy beautiful heart fitted in a box whose margins could not be used for school papers. Therefore all i have to send to you on your blessed day of your birth is six grouchy yet serenading bunnies dressed up as cupids, a goldie retriever the flute, a cocker mix playing the harp, and a beagle puppy dancing for your pleasure.

As the British empire likes to say "Long live the Queen".

Wow, some true words there.
I'm in the middle of composing a Limerick...what rhymes with escritoire? Just kidding. I think.

You always make my day Michelle. Always.

Hmmm. How do I love you let me count the ways.
1) you are the genuine article
2) A friend to all romance readers and writers alike
3) Your Beautiful
4) Your articles are something that makes my day special
5) You're generous with yourself to the causes that mean a lot to you
6) You have a loving family
7) I just do!!!

Amy, unfortunately, I think abbattoir may work, and if you're describing my writing, maybe a slaugherhouse reference is appropriate.

Buongiorno, Bellas, and Happy Love Day! Oh, you're just embarrassing me with all the flattery!

Nessa, you are kindness itself. I've always felt that at least I had my hair going for me. Or, at least I have hair. That's saying something. I like the idea of saying that no matter what life tosses my way, my hair is always clean when I leave the house. Take that, big, bad world!

Michelle Buonfiglio said...

Jedisakora, your ode reads like a medieval pledge and goes so well w/my quasi-medieval queen garb! How lovely to have the entertaining band of animalia. And, oh, the tiny swaths of silk draping the cupid bunnies are just darling! Grazie mille!

Oh, Portia! Thank you. Well, it is the color of royalty. And so many have said I'm a right royal...

amy kennedy said...

There once was a Bella from P.A.
Who thought: there must be a better way.
Up against the escritoire
Thinking of Heroes -- debonaire
She's now Queen of the quodlibet!

Phew! I'm only guessing that quodlbet rhymes with way! And, no, I did not know what it means -- but now I do: a subtle or elaborate argument or point of debate. It's a little iffy (escritoire - debonaire)-- but I hope you get my drift Michelle.

Of course you're dressed in purple; you're the Queen! OUR queen!

I've been such an absent friend the past months. Divorce will do that, especially when the husband decides not to honor the settlement agreement he signed and you get served with divorce papers the day after Thanksgiving. I've killed several trees now with all the paperwork that's been generated. I need to come up with a method for a more "green" divorce.

But I digress. Happy, happy birthday and I look forward to seeing your loveliness in Nashville this summer (provided I'm not in court that week -- ugh).

I couldn't let the day go by without stopping in to say a quickie HIPPITY HAPPITY BIRTHDAY, MICHELLE. I can't believe we've been singing your praises for 4 years. You haven't changed a bit in that time. Well, your hips may have thinned out a bit, your smile is a bit more white, and I'm sure your buttocks wasn't that firm before. But other than that, not a thing has changed. You are still as wonderful now as ever.

I wish the happiest of all birthdays to you, Michelle! I hope you did get my email a few days ago - again, my email account isn't working as it normally should.
I wrote a little poem to your greatness, inspired by some guy called T.S. Elliott and some cats he used to write about. I hope you like it!

Her eyes were like diamonds wonderfully gleaming,
She gave a great smile and her teeth were all beaming,
And when she looked out of the pink from her area,
You never saw anything more beautiful ... or merrier.
And what with a glare of her eyes and her teeth,
All dukes, lords and MPG fell to their knees,
She looked to the sky and she made a pose to admire,
And every last one of them shuddered with desire!
And when all the ladies returned to their house,
There wasn't left even a single male mouse!

All hail and all bow to the Great Michelle Buonfiglio!!!

Sorry I'm late to the party. I was just doing a radio fundraiser where my Christmas story -- you saw it here first -- was performed as a play. I read Frida's part; Rowena Cherry was narrator and Aiden, Keri Stevens was Ginny and Loretta Wheeler read Joey's part. I'm a nervous wreck!

Anyway, many, many birthday wishes to Michelle! I hope you are having lots of cake and ice cream. Or would it be profiteroles for you?

Darn it, Jedi, you beat me to it. Now I'm going to have to think of something original and the cold is dulling my brain.

What can I say about Michelle? When I first met her I was intimidated -- she was, well, Michelle, she was this former beauty queen, she knew everybody in the business -- I felt like a computer geek meeting Bill Gates!

I shouldn't have worried. Michelle is as much fun in person as she is online -- maybe more! We talked and talked at Lori Foster's event, and then at RWA National, I got to know Michelle better -- it was a hoot!

Here's a virtual toast to my wonderful new friend -- Happy Birthday to you, and many, many more!

Annonymous, I kind of like that the slogan "Home of the Whopper" was coined today! I have to share that my actual birthday is Jan 3, but I wanted to make sure we still had a party.

I think, if I remember correctly, the original idea of Love Day came about because of the tradition some Italians follow of giving friends gifts on their own birthdays. So I wanted to share my birthday with the Bellas and give some gifts. I think we had a scavenger hunt the first year, and I gave copies of my fave books, like "Witch of Blackbird Pond," Possession," and some Madeline Hunter medievals...

Then I got addicted to the flattery, and , well...

I am going to say that for your birthday you are going to be lavished with praise and immersed in extravagant jewelry that is befitting of your radiant beauty and witty personality. If you do not mind my saying so you could truly have a career in modeling or in front of the cameras as a leading lady in the movies... Michelle, I'll always remember you for your selfless generosity. I wish I was a wordsmith so I could honor you on this special day the way you should be! Luckily you're surround by authors. Let's make a great one!

I Will NEVER Forget Your Birthday as it falls on the same day as my (one and only) Beautiful BOY. He's 33 years old today and I swear you two could be twins.....You both are smarter than the average bear, dedicated to your family & friends, trustworthy, always on time for work, love to debate (all) issues, pay your bills on time, keep your room clean, can not say no when a friend asks for help....And most important "One of the best people anyone could wish for as a friend or a son". Happy Birthday!!!

Another cup of coffee might bribe the Muse into more flowery language, but since she's being particularly lazy this morning, let me simply wish you many happy returns. You do the BEST blog—thanks so much for sharing your pithy humor and love of books with us all!
