Two years ago, author Leigh Court GuestBlogged @ RBTB to talk bondage and anthologies. Today, Leigh and her fellow Red Sage Secrets Vol 27: Untamed Pleasures give you the scoop on the chicks behind the secrets that’ll have you wishing you were their IRL girlfriends. The Secrets anthologies are marvelous collections of erotic romance shorts written by some of your fave authors – and many up-and-comers. Please offer these Secrets authors your warmest, “Well, there was this one time…” Bella buongiorno…
From the Women of Untamed Pleasures: Hi Bellas! Big thanks to Michelle for letting us visit with you today! Secrets Volume 27: Untamed Pleasures is the newest erotic anthology from Red Sage Publishing, and Michelle (naughty Bella that she is) convinced us to reveal some of our own "secrets," instead of just giving you blurbs of our stories.

Believe me -- you're getting a rare glimpse into our private lives here!

Leigh Court’s Victorian romance "The Bet" is about a man who wagers he can satisfy a woman using just his mouth -- meaning his words. Leigh’s secret? She’s an ex-TV news reporter who knows how powerful words can be, and the potent effect words can have on our largest sex organ – the brain. Another secret? Her English husband is an expert in Victorian history (and he’s handy for, um, researching the sexy bits of her story, too). www.leighcourt.com

Hannah Murray’s "The Boy Next Door" is about a woman looking for Mr. Tie Me Up and Do Me Right – who turns out to live right next door! Hannah's story features some sexy bondage, and she ought to know - she's been a professional bondage model! She posed for a photography student whose bondage photos were part of a senior project, and for a how-to video for a friend who makes bondage rope. Both projects were tons of fun, and she’d love to do more. www.hannahmurray.net

Nicole North has a kilt addiction. Oh, wait, that isn't a secret. She loves traveling to Scotland, and attends Highland Games where brawny kilted men toss cabers around. The secret perhaps is that her husband refuses to put on a kilt so she can experience firsthand what's really worn underneath. Researching her "Devil In A Kilt," she had to rely on her imagination and some naughty pictures she found online. But if a gorgeous man in a kilt happened to offer himself up for research purposes, she’s sure her husband would run out and buy a kilt instantly. www.nicolenorth.com

Liane Gentry Skye has a secret most of us would love to have! While working in a cocktail lounge in Kentucky, she sucked face with none other than Sly Dog, the local lounge singer who (after a lot of pretty dental work) became Billy Ray Cyrus! But Liane’s first love is the sea – as a girl, she even wanted to be a mermaid. Her story "Heart Storm" features a mermaid who finds her true-love merman, which Liane did in real life when she married her very own Navy SEAL. www.lianegentryskye.com

We hope you’ll enjoy Secrets, Volume 27: Untamed Pleasures (available in bookstores and www.eredsage.com). Do you have a secret to share? Dish it, cause we won't tell! How good are you at keeping secrets?

Buongiorno, Bellas, and welcome, Untamed Pleasures authors! Well, I wish I could take credit for the idea of these authors sharing secrets. But Leigh taunted me w/the idea of learning RL secrets and I couldn't resist.

I'm one of those people who loves it when my friends share secrets - but I also love secret gossip w/friends about people I'll never meet. It's, as Leigh says, so very naughty. Does that make me bad? I hope so.

Laurie said...

Sounds like a very entertaining read! Love the unique story lines.

I'm not a big fan of sharing my secrets because in my experience they don't stay secret very long!

Liane Gentry Skye said...

LOL, Laurie, I'm still waiting for the denial from the Billy Ray camp to come in. ;) Secrets are fun. But some are also sacred, and should def. remain so. Thanks for stopping by!

Julie Robinson said...

Quite a clever play on Secrets! Very fascinating tidbits from all four authors. Nicole, I'm still laughing at your comment. I'm sure my DH would run out and get a kilt too! Hmmm, nothing like a little competition to keep the man on his toes . . .

Julie Robinson said...

Seriously, I have to be good at keeping secrets as a sexual assault phone counselor. So that might be my secret in that I have a secret identity. I could see a person on the streets and never know if that person had called and talked to me before---man or woman.

Julie

Nicole North said...

Thanks, Michelle, for allowing us to share our Secrets!

Thanks Laurie!

Liane, I love your secret!

Julie, thanks and you are so right! Wonder if I could hire a kilted hottie for research purposes... so my husband would finally buy a kilt? LOL!

LisaK said...

Hm, maybe one of my secrets is that I love to read gay love stories. I think there's just something sexy about two men having fun with each other. *g*

Oh my, now it is out! *blush*

Nicole, one can hire hot guys in kilts? How come I've never heard about that? Gimme the phone number, puleeze! :)

Michelle Buonfiglio said...

lisaK, you're in the right place! There's totally NOTHING hotter. Yet another reason to like you. And don't you mean "a place to hire (two) guys in kilts?" :)

yeah, Julie. There are secrets and then there are secrets.. What important work -- and difficult work -- you do. Thanks for doing it.

Michelle Buonfiglio said...

Laurie, I have that same problem. I only share secrets I wouldn't mind becoming known. But it's always good to have at least one person we can spill it all to, no?

I laughed out loud at your secret, Liane! He was quite the catch! You know, I always thought he was a kind of nice, harmless guy who wanted a career. He's certainly figured it all out and, hey, you probably gave him the inspiration!

You know, Julie and Nicole, this kilt thing definitely has merit. There was one guy inone at RWA national., and everyone was abuzz. While I've not tried to get my Italian husband to wear a kilt, I have been working on the idea of, I dunno, a Roman gladiator costume, maybe? oops! That ws supposed to be a secret!

LisaK said...

Oh, wow, Michelle, you have an even naughtier mind than I do (I like it!)! Two men in kilts... let me fan myself, please, the image alone makes me... oh, wow, let's talk about warming thoughts on a cold and rainy day...

LisaK said...

Okay, I've got that little linguistic problem with Liane's secret in that I don't know what "suck face" means. Never heard that expression before. But as I'm always willing to learn, would someone explain it to me?

Michelle Buonfiglio said...

lol! "Suck face" means "making out" or "snogging," as the Brits are fond of saying.

Julie Robinson said...

Well, I learn something new every day! Glad you asked the question, Michelle. And I kink of like that Roman gladiator idea. He might go for that one!
:-)
Julie

Nicole North said...

LisaK, surely there is a kilted hottie for hire service someplace. After all where did those Lawson's boys come from?? ;)
Lawson's commercial 1

Lawson's commercial 2

Michelle, I saw that kilted man at the conference! He was sexy and I did have to stare a bit! I would've taken a pic though not sure his wife/ girlfriend would've appreciated that. LOL A Roman gladiator costume, yes that is kinda kilt-like and definitely sexy!

amy kennedy said...

How great is this? Who knew the Secrets authors would have some pretty cool secrets themselves.

Liane, I still can't get over the fact you made-out with BRC. And Lisak I remember the first time I saw the word snogging, and had no idea what it meant, sneezing maybe? I quickly found out in the book though. And Lisa, it's like my second faorite thing, 2 men together, why do you think I love watching wrestling? I keep hoping the two men will finally kiss.

Julie, what an important job, but, erm, I think you "kind" of like the gladiator, although maybe you kink it too.

Hmmm. Secrets. Need to think about that.

amy kennedy said...

Oh, Nicole. Thank you for that! Possibly the best commercial ever.

Michelle Buonfiglio said...

Yeah, Nicole, I was thinking about his wife -- who was cute -- wondering whether she thought it retrospect it was a good idea to show off her man all kilted up. I thought it was a grand idea.

Leigh Court said...

Michelle- Oooh, I love the Roman gladiator fantasy! In fact, I wrote that story (but haven't sold it yet).

Julie - This must be Freudian, but did you realize that you typed "kink" instead of "kind"?? LOL!

And I agree -- some secrets are meant to be kept secret, but some are deliciously fun to share!

Thanks so much for having the Secrets Volume 27 authors blog today, Michelle! Whether your ideal hero is a sexy English viscount, a kilted Scotsman, a brawny Navy SEAL or the not-so-innocent boy next door, this anthology (hopefully) has a hero for everyone's taste :)

Leigh

Julie Robinson said...

Huh! Oops, Freudian slip?
:-)

Michelle Buonfiglio said...

Hi, Leigh! Thanks for corralling your fellow Untamed Pleasures authors to join us today! I'm pretty crazed for hot anthologies. Love the bite-sized erom treats. though reading an entire sexy anthology in one sitting generally makes me useless for getting any real work done for awhile after. sweet.

Michelle Buonfiglio said...

Nicole, the set of Lawson's commercials totally made my day! I feel like a new woman capable of getting work done now! I'll have to bookmark those. Don't care that the boys ain't necesarily braw; they do bonny just fine.

Nicole North said...

Glad you liked those Lawson's boys. Great for inspiration and time-wasting!

Guess I should also point out the Secrets Volume 27 book video, huh?

Where's my comment? I'm losing my mind. I'm sure I commented here awhile ago, but I don't see it here. My computer must have eaten it.

Well, all I said was that I loved this post, and I thought Hannah's story was worthy of a book!

Julie Robinson said...

BTW, Thank YOU, romance writers. To me, phone counseling is like romance stories in that it's all about the heroine (or in some cases, the man in m/m stories), about empowering people who've been hurt in the past (and everyone has a story to tell), but especially women, to continue to believe in love, or for counseling, to move from victim to survivor.

Essentially, Romance stories, even those sneeringly referred to by others as soft porn, are about heroines with a past that has hurt them---an inner and outer conflict that must be overcome or healed in order to have a healthy, satisfying, and intimate relationship. Most of the stories are about how these conflicts are worked out, so that the heroine and the hero can be equal in their give and take of the relationship.

And we know in the HEA of most romances that this will happen, which to the reader (or writer) can be self affirming that love is real and it is possible. Romances are not to give the reader false hope, but rather something to believe in, an ideal to strive for.

I have actually recommended a few romances to callers if something in the story relates to their story. But it depends on where the caller is in their healing.

So, again, thank YOU romance writers for penning stories sexual pleasure in love and love in fulfilling relationships.

Secrets, my moto is if you don't want it told, don't tell it. I have a hard time keeping secrets, I will but only under severe duress and it costs me in terms of indigestion and other maladies. Yuck

Michelle that's great to mention Kilts on a Monday am, you know how I love Kits, Yummy!!!

Aileen Fish said...

I can't wait to get my copy! Nicole and Leigh have been teasing us with glimpses and the other stories sound exciting, too!

Leigh Court said...

Julie - I was priveledged to be interviewed on NBC Nightly News recently, and was quoted as saying "when you're stressed or depressed, romance novels are cheaper than therapy." I really believe that. Glad to hear that you believe romances are good therapy, too, and that you sometimes recommend them to your sexual assault clients!

It's great work you do!

What Debbie Haupt said. If you tell one person, it's not a secret anymore. That person will tell 2 who will each tell 2...I also believe keeping secrets is a genetic trait. Some people can do it (me) and some cannot (hubby and two of our kids).

I love all the secrets you ladies couldn't keep. lol

Ok, I need to buy a copy. Between Leigh's victorian story and Lianne's mermaid story my curiosity is piqued. besides, I have to get out of the YA and Urban Fantays section once in awhile, lol.

Secrets? I don't think I have any anymore after Erica posted a picture of me in my Irish Dancing costume in the LARA newsletter, LOL. (Serves me right for sending it to her in the first place, lol).

Michelle Buonfiglio said...

Julie, thank you so much for that informative and thoughtful comment. I've learned from many women who've survived sexual abuse -- and have written about my own experience -- that reading romance helped heal them and helped them understand exactly what you've said about learning to trust their sexualities and that there are healthy relationships to be had.

Michelle Buonfiglio said...

Will ea of you Secrets authors spill alittle secret about what's next for you or your current work in progress (WIP)?

amy kennedy said...

Julie, yes! "Romances are not to give the reader false hope, but rather something to believe in." Perfect.

Liane, you had me at, "...wicked hot male/male play..."

Debbie, I understand some of my friends are like that, so I would never burden them with any of my secrets, but I also have a friend whom I know I could burden with any number of secrets -- and I have!

Yes, I'll be glad to spill future secrets, Michelle. My next release from Red Sage will be Kilted Lover this fall. It's a contemporary with a modern day kilted hottie who acts very much like his Scots and Norse ancestors. Throws the heroine over his shoulder to rescue her, knows how to handle a weapon and toss cabers, and when that kilt comes off he can burn up the sheets. Oops, TMI? :) Devil in a Kilt in Secrets Vol. 27 is the first of a stand alone trilogy of stories about kilted shapeshifters with magic, hot mayhem and time-travel. Next will be Beast in a Kilt in Secrets Vol. 29. And I'm just finishing the 3rd story, Scoundrel in a Kilt.

Leigh Court said...

Michelle - My next story was too hot for even Red Sage to handle, so it's coming out from Samhain in September. It's called The Initiation of Isabella, and there's a blindfold, handcuffs and a particular, um, sex toy involved. Oh, and did I mention the three men??

Someimes a girls just has to let her imagination run wild...

Oh, I have to be good at keeping secrets! Because, for some reason, I guess 'Tell me your secrets' is stamped on my forhead! LOL. But I don't mind, sometimes you just need to get things off your chest and tell someone. So why NOT me, right?

Mia Varano said...

You ladies have some great secrets! Psst - they're not secrets anymore. Can't wait to get my hands on Secrets Vol. 27 - very patiently awaiting Leigh's book signing in L.A.

Liane Gentry Skye said...

Michelle, I had dual releases this month. I have the pleasure of kicking of Red Sage's first author developed series, Three Kinds of Wicked. The series has it's own website at http://www.threekindsofwicked.com

And as, always, a picture is worth a thousand words, so here's the trailer address: http://www.threekindsofwicked.com/trailer

Warning to the weak....this is an intensely emotional, but also scorching series. If you aren't into menage and some m/m play, this one's probably not for you! ;

Jane said...

Hello ladies,
Congrats on the release of the anthology. All the stories sound so intriguing. I don't have any juicy secrets to reveal. I would like to think that I'm capable of keeping a secret for a friend, but there have been times where I did gossip because I couldn't keep it to myself.

Leigh Court said...

Everyone's opinions on secrets are so much fun to read!

It's nice to "see" some friends here today, but I might have to have a private word with Alyssa about spilling my "mother" secret. (Yes, I admit it, I still haven't told my mother I write sexy romance.) THERE! Another secret exposed!

Leigh

Hannah said...

Chiming in a little late here, but what's next for me is a story I call "paranormal lite". Mostly contemporary in feel, there's just this one teeny, tiny difference between my heroine and everyone else: that whole "magic" thing. And really, she's pretty sick of the whole thing.

Mayhem ensues!

Lucie Simone said...

I got a sneak preview of "The Bet," and let me assure you, it is full of sexy scenes that, in those days, would definitely be kept secret!

Good luck, Leigh!

David B. said...

Very entertaining blog. Bondage models, TV reporters, kilt envy, making out with Miley's dad. Very colorful. Indeed!

Great job!

Nicole North said...

Thanks David! We're an entertaining group. LOL

Okay, Leigh, I confess too. My mother doesn't know I write sexy stories either! Guess we're bad girls??

About keeping secrets, I'm usually very good at that!

Vanessa Kelly said...

Sounds like a fantastic antho, gals! I just love erotica anthos - perfect for a little late night reading!

I can't share my secrets with you, or I'd get arrested.

Michelle Buonfiglio said...

lol! You guys are so busted! I'm on the phone in a conference call w/your moms right now and...

Nicole, I'm good at keeping secrets but love the point in any convo when I say to an author or someone, "btw, anything we're talking about now is off the record," and they go, 'Oh, I totally know you won't say anything, but thanks for saying so."

Hi, Hannah! I love that twist. Rather than the heroine suddenly realizing she's magical, she's totally been there/done that.

Hi, MPG. Um, just ignore the reference about to Roman Gladiotors, ok? [blushing. Yeah, I'm blushing. It could too happen!]

Kate Pearce said...

Hi Leigh and everyone and congratulations on a great collection of stories. I always enjoy the Secret's anthologies and this one looks wonderful :)

Michelle Buonfiglio said...

Nicole, keep those kilters coming, 'k?

mia: d'oh! Maybe if we just keep them among ourselves...

Oh, man, carly: kids are so miserable at keeping secrets. And then when they tell, the secrets seem nothing like the original.

Michelle Buonfiglio said...

My girlfriend, Michelle, turned me on to Secrets right after Ellora's. She's always been my go=to girl on erotic romance; she got me hooked.

Hannah said...

Nicole & Leigh: Not only does my mother know I write sexy stories, but she A) owns them all, and B) has a habit of reading them to people who come over for dinner. And if no one comes over to dinner, she'll read them over the phone. ;-)

It's a little weird, but it's nice that she's proud of me.

Princess Bumblebee said...

Hey, Bellas! Welcome Secret girls!
Moi keep a secret? Well, I'm really good about keeping everyone else's secrets. It's my own that I have a problem with. Like the little crush I have on my brother's roommate...who said that? Ok, so I'm home now and I miss both my brother and his roommate, Matt, something aweful. Hey, it's nice for this Princess to be, well, treated like a princess for a whole week. Squee! Wanna go back so bad! No one to treat me like a princess! *Sob*
Ok, so I had a blast, what with the drunk guys on the bus who wanted to take a picture with me (my brother wouldn't let them. See, princess),the palm trees, the walk of fame, those crazy people dressed up as batman, and Santa Monica with it's ocean, awesome Pier and sidewalk fun. It was the best, sleeping till noon, watching tv and playing on the internet until one of the guys (man, do I miss them) to come home. They better not be wearing my nail polish, though, hehe! Or trying on my shoes. Gotta watch Matt about that.
Anywayz, back to the grind, but happy I still have my romance novels and you guys, a place where we can talk about secrets, kilted men, and...bondage. Grr!

Gwynlyn MacKenzie said...

Sorry, Nicole. My sweetheart often wears a kilt, complete with gillies, hauberk, and a claymore nearly as tall as I, but won't qualify for handsome hunk--except maybe to me.

Liane Gentry Skye said...

Gwynlyn, I'm green with envy! And I swear, I'm not going to ask just how big that claymore is. ;)

You all have been great today! Michelle, thanks so much for having us here to share our naughty little secrets. This has been so much fun!

Nicole North said...

Oh I'm jealous too Gwynlyn!! How to get my hubby into those things??

I'm jealous of Hannah too and the fact her mother is so openminded and accepting!

Michelle, not to worry. I love writing about kilted heroes!

Thanks everyone!

Michelle Buonfiglio said...

Principessa, talk about secrets! So glad to hear you had such a great time inLA, and sorry to hear you're missing the boys. Maybe they could take a road trip to see you? Sounds like you had a wonderful, kind of romantic time.

ah, Gwynlyn, bragging just isn't pretty. And I'll bet he looks hawt!

And,really, liane, no need to tread softly on the claimore size references round this place. :)

this has been a marvelous day! Thank you so much Secrets UP authors and friends. MPG says this has been one of his fave blog posts evah! But he's still a no-go on the gladiator uni. Ah, well, a girl can dream...

Maybe if I dressed as a big, hungry Coliseum lioness...

Rats! Missed the secret sharing! I have to admit that I agree with some other commenters--I usually don't admit to a secret unless it's something I'm OK with getting out there... once shared, a secret doesn't stay secret for long! I'm not sure I've got any real secrets--they've all be outed ;) I was pretty quiet about the ballet classes I was taking, but performing in the spring show along with the rest of my class let that cat out of the bag! Guess I'm just an open book now! Not nearly as interesting as Secrets though!
