I'm on vacation! No, really, I mean it this time. I'm not going anywhere special, just liberating myself from my laptop. Well, ok, that's not entirely true; I'll still be writing new posts Tuesdays @ "Unabashedly Bookish," at BN.com, so I hope you'll join me there.

RBTB'll be back in bi'ness July 6th with a visit from Hank Phillippi Ryan, a pal I've long wanted you to meet. Then, July 7 I've got some cool RBTB news to share.

In the meantime, feel free to stop in every day to tell us about the books you're just loving! If you've read books you're not crazed for, feel free to talk about em elsewhere. :)

When I come back, I'll randomly choose one commenter to win a 12-pack of romances!

I've been on a "good book" streak lately. Here are a few I've recently read and loved. I've added the release date for those that aren't yet published.

Suddenly One Summer by Barbara Freethy (6/30)

One Reckless Summer by Toni Blake

Wicked Little Game by Christine Wells (7/7)

What Happens in London by Julia Quinn (6/30)

Goddess of the Hunt by Tessa Dare (7/28)

Enjoy your week "off". Hubby is heading to NJ next weekend to spend time with the grandkids without me. I have to work and Heather is coming home. So when he gets home we are going to NYC to see Rock of Ages.

I am reading Dead and Gone and enjoying it. The humor is snarky!

Hope you have a great vacation, Michelle! I just finished an old Jenny Crusie - Anyone But You. I think it's the first I've read by her . . . hard to believe, isn't it? Won't be the last though. What a great sense of humor. I couldn't put it down.

Sounds like everyone's reading great stuff.

And I definately have to read What Happens In London--how great is that title?

Booklover--I read an excerpt of Deeper and was, of course, enthralled. I just read my first book by Megan Hart--Stranger. I have a lot of catching up to do.

I have a tendency to read several books at once--don't know why, but I do, so...I'm reading:

Magic Burns, a great urban fantasy series with a cool love interest--I can't find the book and can't remember the author's name...Ilona...Andrews?
Faeries Gone Wild, an anthology by MN authors, MaryJanice Davidson, Lois Greiman, Michelle Hauf and Leandra Logan
The Conqueror by Kris Kennedy

I'm enjoying Gorgeous as Sin by Susan Johnson, and next I think I'll read A Letter of Mary by Laurie R King. :)

So, REALLY! how can an author go on vacation without their laptop?? I DO hope you bring it with you so if you get some great ideas, you can just type them in and get back to them when you can... Really, though hope you get some down time to get some romantic ideas rolling...!

Just finished Lee Child's Gone Tomorrow and met him in person on LI. Told him to "write faster"! Mickey Mac

Really liked Tangled in Love -- and since it took me forever to get it, I don't have to wait as long for the next one to come out, only in August. :) Now reading Too Dangerous to Desire by Alexandra Benedict, another book it took me a while to get, but finally reading! :)

I too just finished two of Mary Balogh's Huxable series. This I so enjoy. There's another two out now too (4 months in a row books!) then next year I believe is Con's story. Gosh I don't know how I can wait a year. But those are not to be missed either!

Enjoy your holidays, Michelle!

I've just finished the third in the Legacy of the Blood Sword series by Karin Tabke, strong romances playing in the dark Middle Ages. I loved all three books (although there happenes something in #2 that I really, really didn't like and that kinda spoiled the whole book for me a little bit, but I'm sure I'll get over it eventually) and I absolutely can't wait for the next five (!!!) to come out. Don't know when and about whom, though.

Hey, Bellas! Have a great vacation, QB! I'm sure you brought plenty of romance novels!
Me, finished Dryden's Bride by Margo Maguire, one of her older releases. Before that, I read Teresa Medieros..did I spell that right?...and her newer book Some Like It Wild. Loved em! Next, I'll probably read the next in my reread of Kresley Cole's fabulous Immortals After Dark Series, No Rest For the Wicked and drool over Jason Statham in between books, hehe.
Stay cool, everyone!

Have a great time off Michelle, There are too many great reads to comment on all of them here so I'll do one at a time. I read Lip Service by Susan Mallery over the weekend it's the second in her Titan Sisters trilogy and it was smoking hot romance, just like we bellas like. Yummy!!

Good for you -- taking a MUCH needed vacation. Enjoy yourself and your wonderful family.

I've been reading several books: Just finished Michele Hauf's "The Highwayman" -- one of my first forays into the paranormal urban fantasy genre (yes, I am that behind the times). I love Michele and I enjoyed this story a lot. I may still be mostly a contemporary girl, but I'm learning to expand my horizons!

I'm now finishing Connie Brockway's newest, "So Enchanting"--what a fun cast of characters and a great, unusual story line.

Before that I read a Catherine Anderson contemp called "Star Bright". She's interesting to me because of how she weaves her personal beliefs into the stories.

Sounds like I'll never be able to catch up with all the great recommendations here tho!

Happy reading Bellas!

I just read JUST BREATHE by Susan Wiggs. It was a lovely story with lots of wit and emotion. The heroine is a woman that many could relate to. I highly recommend it.

Oh, I wanted to recommend a good movie, too. If you love to read romance, then you will love THE PROPOSAL with Sandra Bulloch. I saw it yesterday, and it was wonderful. There were many LOL moments.

Please don't enter me in the contest - I have more books than I can handle right now.

I'm obsessed with Nalini Singh. A bit late to the party, but I'm making up for lost time. Almost done reading "Angels' Blood". Yummy. I seem to be on a paranormal kick right now, which is really unusual for me. Lara Adrian is another author I'm glomming.

Have a great vacay!

Man, I need to atrt writing a list, I love the wide range of books--historicals, paras, contemps, mysteries...wonderful.

Cherie--you're the second person I've heard recommend The Proposal. I do love Sandra Bullock.

Lisa--I hate it when that happens! But time will heal the almost ruined wounds...

Maered--loooove the Mercy books. I always feel as if I'm visiting with an old friend when I read a new Patricia Briggs Mercy book.

I decided to read A TOUCH OF WICKED by Jennifer Haymore next, rather than the Laurie R King, because there's such a huge buzz about it and Jennifer is so nice on Twitter.

Loving it so far! Incredible dilemma for the heroine, and I've no idea how it's going to resolve. Am steadfastly resisting a peek at the last page! :)

I just finished Debbie Macomber's latest, and I am not sure what to read next. I have a pile of TBR books, but there are so many awesome books out this week. I am tempted to buy JQ's WHAT HAPPENS IN LONDON or Loretta Chase's DON'T TEMPT ME.

Julie in Ohio said...

Just finished Jacquelyn Frank's Ecstasy. Strange premise but it worked for me.

Question to throw out into blogland; what makes a book a teen or young adult book??
I am really curious.

My daughter came back from the library with a book that I can't let her read and I know she's not going to understand because she found it in the teen section and it's about a 14 year old. I am usually pretty liberal with what I allow her to read but this one crossed the line. Being small town USA it's very possible it was placed incorrectly by the librarian but it makes me wonder.

debbie haupt said...

I just started The Pillars of the Earth to please my daughter, I would have rather started my vacation with Maidensong but oh well. I'll be back to the blog on July 14th since I'm plagued with only dial up at home because of rural area. So see ya'll when I get back from my staycation!!

Portia - I loved A TOUCH OF WICKED. Another book I read recently that's stirring up a lot of talk (all of it good) is THE MADNESS OF LORD IAN MACKENZIE. Both of those books were keepers.

I just finished EDGE OF HUNGER by Rhyannon Byrd (pauses to fan self) and I may try to read the second two books over the weekend, too.

I've been going back and forth between mystery and romance this week -- John Connolly and Harlan Coben to Christine Merrill and Loretta Chase. And I just picked up a stack of books at the used book store yesterday. As if my TBR pile wasn't big enough already!

(Sorry, had to delete and repost due to major typo in the first one!)

Jules - you can absolutely bring it up with your librarian, but just so you know teen books ain't what they used to be. There's lot's of well written appropriate books for teens - ask your library if they have a book list, otherwise go to the Hennepin County web site for book lists for teens.

www.hclib.org

Or e-mail me.

debbie haupt, my goodness, how fast do you read?
etirv, I love Elizabeth Hoyt.
Misty Evans - Charlaine Harris is my hero. When you're caught-up with the Sookie books you'll have to start her "grave" mysteries, I think you'll like those too.
