Brenda Novak GuestBlog: The Online Auction For Diabetes Begins Today!

***$1 BUY IT NOW HINTS!!! The $1 Buy it Now items are hidden on the Novak Auction site now! Ask Brenda questions she can answer w/ a YES or NO for hints where they might be! $23K already's been raised for Diabetes research today! You go, BN!***

From Brenda Novak: I’m SO excited! My 5th Annual Online Auction for Diabetes Research begins today, May 1st (at brendanovak.com) and it has over 2,000 fabulous items, many of which you can’t get anywhere else.

I started this fundraiser in 2005 and have made it an annual event in an attempt to help my twelve-year-old son (diagnosed at 5) and the many, many others who struggle with diabetes. The need is there, and thanks to my many, many generous donors (including Michelle and the Bellas!), we’re doing what we can to help.

Last year we managed to raise over $250,000. In 2009 we’re shooting for $300,000. And judging by the increase in donations and web traffic, I think we’ll get there. Not only do I offer fabulous items like original paintings, handmade quilts, trips and stays and autographed books and baskets from Big Name authors, I offer fabulous opportunities. How would you like to have lunch with one of your favorite authors, maybe Barry Eisler or Janet Evanovich? Or name a character in John Lescroart’s next hardcover? Or own a quilt made by NYTimes Best-selling Author Anne Stuart? Or take a trip to Seattle to see Bestselling Author Jane Porter? Or visit the Tuscan countryside for one week courtesy of Author Tom Gabby? If those items don’t grab you, maybe you’d like to bid on the baseball autographed by President Obama. Actually, there are too many items to list here, but I know the Bellas won’t want to miss the RBTB & Friends offerings, which can also be found on the auction. So hop over and check it out.

For those of you who have never participated in an online auction, don’t worry--it’s easy (just like E-Bay). And the person who places the highest number of bids over all, even if that person doesn’t win a single item, will be awarded an amazing prize package that includes a brand new giant touch screen Hewlett Packard computer (the one where they’ve done away with the tower and is completely wireless), as well as an Advanced Reading Copy of my new book, THE PERFECT COUPLE, due out July 28th.

We also have something new this year. I’m going to be posting random $1 Buy it Now items (in no particular category). Some of these items will be extremely valuable, but after I post one, if you’re the first to find it, you’ll get to buy it for a buck! For aspiring writers, these will include evaluations by top agents and editors (one by my own agent, Kim Whalen at Trident Media Group). But there will be $1 Buy it Now items that should appeal to everyone. It’ll be like going on an Easter Egg hunt. I’m all for making you feel like a kid again.

One other thing I should mention. To help promote the auction, I’m currently holding a drawing for a fabulous Trip for 2 to Sonoma, California (wine country). This trip includes airfare and hotel stay. To enter, visit brendanovak.com and click on the Contest link.

Here’s hoping I see you at the auction!

Woohoo! Hi, Brenda! Thanks again for all your hard work putting this together--I'll definitely be shopping there! :)

Here's wishing that the Auction is a huge success!

Buongiorno, Bellas, and welcome, Brenda! Such exciting news about the auction. You've turned it into an event so many of us feel a sense of pride at being included in. I feel it even when I place a bid. I got so excited last year trying to win items and was really psyched when I won. when I didn't, I felt (sorta grudgingly) happy that you made more money on that item for research.

I love these 'Buy it Now' selections! How fun will that be?! And how much time will I spend trawling the site...

How is your son doing, Brenda? And can you tell us if you're able about some of the projects Auction funds have supported?

Oh, and if you have a sec to tell a bit about your new series, that'd be cool, too.

Thanks again for visiting today in the midst of all the joyful nuttiness of Auction launch!

Morning, Bellas!! Welcome, Brenda!!
This auction is such a great idea. I hope your son is doing well.
I've already browsed a bit over there and saw ALOT of great items that need my bidding. ;o)

I wish you much success with the auction!!!

Vanessa Kelly said...

Good luck with the auction, Brenda! What a wonderful idea and so many great gifts! Hope your son is doing well.

Brenda Novak said...

Hello Michelle and fabulous Bellas! Thanks for the warm welcome. I'm running on only a few hours of sleep since the auction started last night, but I'm feeling GOOD (for any of you who watched Adam perform on American Idol last Tuesday, you'll know just the inflection I mean--LOL).

The auction is off to a brisk start. Thanks to everyone who supports it. It makes me tear up to think about all of you. (Okay, a woman is allowed a weepy moment after being up all night, right?)

More in a minute...

Brenda

Michelle--

You asked about some of the research my auction dollars have helped support. Here's a quick rundown of where it will go this year (to the Diabetes Research Institute, which is involved in the following):

1. Researchers are creating physical barriers between transplanted islets and the immune system -- to protect the cells from attack without the need for immunosuppression.

2. Engineering New Drugs
The DRI's Drug Discovery Program is focused on blocking the immune attack against islet cells, and on delivering immunosuppressants locally -- only where transplanted islets are placed.

3. Stem Cell Research
Stem cell research at the DRI focuses on developing a sufficient and reliable source of insulin-producing cells.

4. Genetic Engineering
This is a revolutionary process that could help increase islet survival and direct stem cells to become insulin-producing islets.

5. Cell Regeneration
There is evidence islet cells can regenerate within the native pancreas. Scientists are exploring ways to stimulate the growth of these cells and restore insulin production.

6. Islet Quality and Function
Investigators are finding new ways to evaluate the health and quality of islets prior to infusion into patients.

And you asked about my books. I have three romantic suspense novels coming out this summer: THE PERFECT COUPLE (7/28), THE PERFECT LIAR (8/25), and THE PERFECT MURDER (9/29). These are all part of my Last Stand series, but they are only loosely connected to the first three books and to each other so you can certainly read them out of order.

Here's a quick blurb for each:

In THE PERFECT COUPLE, Zoe Duncan’s thirteen-year-old daughter goes missing from her own backyard while home sick from school and private investigator Jonathan Stivers is called on to help find her. But he's never had fewer leads to work with--and is sure of only one thing: Sam was taken by someone close to the family. He has no idea how close until he realizes that the “perfect” couple next door is anything but...

THE PERFECT LIAR is about obsession. After air force captain Luke Trussell goes home with the wrong kind of woman, he's falsely accused of rape, putting his career and his reputation at stake. He didn't force his attentions on the woman who's been coming on to him for months, but she has the bruises--and the DNA evidence--to make her claim convincing. And Karina Harter is determined to have him, or make him pay.…

In THE PERFECT MURDER, investment banker Sebastian Costas is trying to unravel the truth behind the murder of his ex-wife and son. The evidence suggests a murder-suicide, but something he heard the week before the killings won't allow him to accept that. He believes her second husband, a cop, killed her and the boy, then faked his own death. But proving it isn't easy--or safe.

I love watching the items on the auction! It's so fun to see how quickly things skyrocket and what gems there are to find!

And now I'm off to hunt for those Buy it Now $1 gems...I know I'll find some! LOL

Monica Burns said...

Hi Brenda, Thanks for all your hard work on the auction. It's a tough job, and I'm in awe of your organizational skills. I thought I was good! LOL

I love browsing through the items at the auction. I think this is my fourth year participating in the event, which benefits such a worthwhile cause.Queen Bella has donated something as well if I remember correctly.

Bellas, if you've not checked out the auction site, GO! There's something for everyone.

WTG on doing such a great job Brenda!

Brenda Novak said...

Hi Jeannie--I have to admit I haven't listed any of the $1 Buy it Now items today. But there will definitely be some going up this week. I thought I'd better wait a day until we all sort of sink in to this thing. LOL

Thanks for all you've done (and will do) to make the auction a success!

Brenda Novak said...

Hi Monica--

You're on of the stalwarts. Thanks for coming back year after year. Fortunately, the auction started out relatively small, which gave me a chance to get some organizational processes in place before taking on over 2,000 items, as I have this year. Also, I hired some help. It was just more than one person could so (at least one person who has to write three books & one novella a year and raise five kids, one of which is diabetic).

I'm anxious to see how we do. The auction has nearly doubled every year. But with the economy...I'm not sure what will happen for 2009, but I know that traffic is brisk and that we've already raised $22,000 (in a matter of hours). Woo Hoo!!!

jo robertson said...

Hi, Brenda and Michelle, popping over from Romance Bandits to say if you haven't checked out Brenda's fabulous 2009 Auction items, do so right away. There are some very pocketbook-friendly items as well as fabulous offers by agents and editors for a read of your manuscript.

Plus, it's just loads of fun to play over there! And a very worthy cause to boot!

Lauren Hawkeye said...

Brenda, you've done it once again my dear! What a fabulous auction- over 2000 items! How it's grown even from last year. I'm so proud of you! Here's to a cure!
Now I'm off to bid... even though I shouldn't )

Colleen Thompson said...

Best of luck for an outstanding auction!

I'm looking forward to your new series. Love those covers!

Kristina Cook/Kristi Astor said...

What a GREAT auction this year, Brenda!! I'm already happily bidding away!

Here's hoping for a record-breaking year, despite the tough economy.

Ali said...

Hi, Brenda :) I've got to say, I look forward to your auction more and more each year. I think it's a great thing you're doing, and so much fun *bg* Ugh, I've already spent my morning bidding instead of working, lol

Okay, in the newsletter I just receiveda few minutes ago, you mentioned giving away hints for the $1 Buy it Now items *bg* so, my question... will one go up before this Sunday?

amy*skf said...

Brenda! When you came to RBTB last year I went to the austion for the first time--loved it, so exciting. And I ended up winning a lovely golf gift set for my father-in-law.

Very cool.

The books sound great, what's the romance factor in them?

Off to the auction, be back soon.

Billie Jo said...

Hi Brenda!

I am all geared up for the auction this year. I have my eye on several things already.

I hope you have another successful year with this auction.

Jeannie Ruesch said...

A friend in my critique group just told me that she got her agent from the what she won in this auction!! How exciting! :)

Kwana said...

Hi Brenda,

Thanks so much for doing this again this year. This is my first time jumping in and bidding. I love a good hunt and what a worthy cause!

Silver James said...

Brenda, how's the first day "receipts" compare to last year? Are you ahead, about the same, or behind? (Trust me, I've been in there bidding away! LOL)

And those $1 goodies... I wish I knew of a yes/no question to pin you down on the timing of them. One a day? Every other day? And any hint on when they'll start besides sometime in the next week?

Best of luck and I'm in there hunting and clicking!

Debbie Kaufman said...

Hey Brenda,
Is the $1.00 item in the writer's category?

Brenda Novak said...

Aha! A few of you have already received the e-mail. Great! Let's have some fun.

Ali's question: Yes

Brenda Novak said...

Hi Amy--Thanks for your interest in my books. I'm glad that RBTB helped you to find the auction last year. That's how it grows--one person at a time.

The romance factor in these books is high--I'd say they're 50/50 romance and suspense (which is my favorite ratio LOL)

Brenda Novak said...

Hi Billie Jo--

Did you get the ARC of THE PERFECT COUPLE I sent you for review? Hope so, and hope you liked it!

The auction means so much to me this year... and I don't intend to stop bidding anytime soon... I am carrying my laptop around the house with me :).. A little girl, who is very close to my heart has diabetes... and I don't know if people know how much it affects a life in one so little. So THANK you Brenda, and Michelle...and everyone else who is donating these fabulous auction items... I hope you reach your goal and go beyond!!!

ok.. I have to run, and see what else I can bid on ... :) Thank You! (Tr232397) :)....

Brenda Novak said...

Jeannie--How exciting! Has she ever told me that? LOL I know of one sale made through auction reads, and two individuals who hooked up with great agents. I'm trying to keep a tally, so email me with her name and the agent she's with.

Thanks for sharing.

Brenda Novak said...

Thanks so much, Kwana. And welcome to the auction. :-)

Brenda Novak said...

Hi Kristina, Colleen, Lauren and Jo! I know you are all auction supporters. Thanks a million! I remember Jo winning some amazing things in my very first auction, which raised only $34,000. That sounds small now, but I was thrilled. Still, just look how it's grown!

Brenda Novak said...

Hi Silver--We are crushing all previous records. We're nearly up to $25,000 and it's only 11:21 my time. That's just amazing to me. I can hardly believe it--and I definitely can't work. I'm too excited! LOL

As far as hints, someone just asked if one of these $1 items would be posted before Sunday. My answer is above. (evil grin)

Brenda Novak said...

Hi Silver--We are crushing all previous records. We're nearly up to $25,000 and it's only 11:21 a.m. my time. That's just amazing to me. I can hardly believe it--and I definitely can't work. I'm too excited! LOL

As far as hints, someone just asked if one of these $1 items would be posted before Sunday. My answer is above. Can you imagine my evil grin?

Brenda Novak said...

Hi Debbie--The answer to your question is no. But don't let that throw you. With this, I don't have to put writer things in writer categories. They can go anywhere, and vice versa.

Brenda Novak said...

Anonymous--Thank YOU! We couldn't do this without you and everyone else out there who is bidding. I'm hoping everyone is considering these items for Christmas and birthday presents. I know the economy isn't good and don't want to put anyone in a bad place--so spend money you'd have to spend elsewhere at the auction.

amy*skf said...

Kwana--it just gets easier and easier,

limit bid:50.00
you've been outbid (I hear a breathy female voice saying this--not really, just in my head)
D'oh! Limit bid: 75.00
you've been outbid...

It's almost like a competition.

Jeannie Ruesch said...

@amy*skf-- It's totally like a competition! I never even knew I had a competitive side until I started bidding on this auction in year's past. LOL

And that "you've been outbid" voice always sounds like Patrick Stewart to me. *smile*

Brenda Novak said...

LOL Amy! So the bidding is fierce? Maybe you'd like to pick up one of those $1 items.... (and only I know when one will be listed and where it will go). I'm rubbing my hands in glee... LOL

Erin McCarthy said...

Glad to hear the auction is off to such a great start, Brenda! The Buy It Now items sound like fun.
:-)

jo robertson said...

Brenda, you're taking entirely too much evil pleasure out of this $1 bid LOL. I must go search for it.

What fun!

RebekahC said...

The auction looks wonderful! So many brilliant offers up for grabs. I hope you have a truly magnificent response to this again this year. I know I'll be bidding. Just need to get my cc info uploaded. Too lazy to go get my wallet from the other room right now though. LOL

And am super excited to learn about the $1 gems. Hope I maybe luck out and find one along the way. ;)

Hi Brenda,

I did get it and read at RT last week. All I can say is WOWSER and I LOVED it. You will get the review this weekend.

I ended up not sleeping all night because of you LOL

Thank you

Billie Jo

Silver James said...

OH! Will you be telling us in the newsletter when someone finds the $1 goodies?

jo robertson said...

Is the $1 Buy It Now Item in one of the five categories?

Brenda Novak said...

Hi Erin--I think these $ Buy it Now items will be a great additon. :-) But I should clarify. They are NOT listed right now. They will be listed periodically throughout the auction. I'm giving hints as to when the first item will go up, what it will be and where it can be found.

Nicole Zoltack said...

Will there only be one $1 buy it now goodie listed before Sunday?

And I've been bidding and outbid on several items already.

I think this is great. My grandmother has diabetes and several years ago, my youngest brother was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes. Wonderful cause, thank you so much for doing this. It means the world to me.

Michelle Buonfiglio said...

Buona sera, Bellas and friends! I'm just signing back on after spending some time on kid stuff, and I'm reading through Brenda's first and second posts and, already, i'm tearing up. The research that's being done with the money so many of you have donated and helped raised will save so many lives -- and raise the quality of life of so many living with diabetes.

Yesterday, I wrote in a hopefully funny way about a new romance that has a heroine with a kidney transplant just like me. It's her second, due to complictins from diabetes. When I think about the folks I've met just like her -- or folks who won't have to have transplants or wait on lists for organs that may never become available -- because research will help them live w/ diabetes, or in the case of Brenda's research item #1, live w/out immunosuppression after islet transplantation rather than organ txplt, I cannot help but be moved to tears.

Now I've gotta man up and read on. :)

Brenda Novak said...

I am taking evil pleasure in it, Jo. I love that this is such a great answer to all those people who say they want to bid but don't have the money. Now they can participate, too. And maybe as everyone scrambles through to find these things they'll find a few items they can't resist along the way. LOL

Michelle Buonfiglio said...

What's this about gems?

Brenda Novak said...

Hi RebekahC--You sound like me. My purse is in the other room, and whenever I have to pay for something on line, I yell to one of the kids, "Hey, bring me my purse!"

Michelle Buonfiglio said...

Let me give praise and a HUGE shout out to Brenda's assistant, A, who does an amazing, enviable job of keeping track of stuff, always being amazingly organized and, even better, fun and funny! She totally rocks and does and incredible job at what has to be a really difficult job. She makes it seem easy.

Brenda Novak said...

Billie Jo--I'm SO glad you like THE PERFECT COUPLE. :-) It's one of my own personal favorites so I've been curious to see how it will be received. Thanks for letting me know. I'll look forward to receiving the review!

Brenda Novak said...

Yes, I'm thrilled with the help I've had this year. Anna has kept me sane. I could not have pulled the auction together without her. Jeannie has been a huge help, too. She knows so much more about computers and how to get them to do what you want than me and Anna. LOL I've had a great team this year, and I'm really grateful!

Brenda Novak said...

Silver--I will definitely let everyone know who wins the $1 Buy it Now items. I'm trying not to send out too many newsletters, so I'll probably save us several items and make a list, but the info will be there.

Michelle Buonfiglio said...

Hi, Jeanne! Not if I beat you to em! :)

Mon, you are always where the good stuff is goin on, arent' you?

Hi, flchen!

Nicole, thanks for sharing your personal connection, and for checking in.

Brenda Novak said...

Hi Michelle--You are such a great example. Thanks for saying what you did. I do believe the money is going to a good place.

The gems are the $1 BUY IT NOW items that will be randomly added to the auction over the month it will be running. Or were you joking, thinking they might actually be diamonds? LOL Hey, maybe I should make one of them be diamonds.... Better check my pocketbook for that idea.

Michelle Buonfiglio said...

Jeanne writes: I never even knew I had a competitive side until I started bidding on this auction in year's past. LOL I was appalled with myself for the same reason, jeanne. And thanks for doing so much to help the Auction.

Brenda Novak said...

Hi Nicole--I'm sorry to hear that diabetes has touched your family, too. I think this is a disease we will beat. It's just a matter of time--and I'm hoping to hurry that process. And to answer your question: Yes.

Brenda Novak said...

Jo, I'm confused by your question. You ask if the $ BUY IT NOW item that I will be listing first is in one of the five categories. We have many more categories than five. Which five did you mean?

Brenda Novak said...

Hi Julie in Ohio! And Portia--and flchen1. Somehow I think I missed those early posts. My apologies. Thanks for saying hello and making me welcome.

Michelle Buonfiglio said...

With God as my witness, I would hunt down, trip her, and step over my girlfriend amyskf's prostrate body to get to a $1 Buy it Now diamond anything.

But I'd do it in the nicest way possible, bless her heart. :)

Brenda Novak said...

Vanessa--Thad is doing quite well. He's entering puberty, which is always a really rough time for a diabetic. Those hormones wreck havoc with insuling absorption, etc., and they get less willing to cooperate with diet restrictions and constant testing, but we're doing all we can. Thanks for asking.

Brenda Novak said...

LOL Okay, there will be diamonds for Michelle. I can't promise they'll be HUGE. But I'll find something sparkly as one of those items, so keep your eye out, Bellas!

Billie Jo said...

LOL Michelle

You can have the diamonds and I will take the rubies LOL

Billie Jo

Michelle Buonfiglio said...

It's a deal, Billie Jo and Brenda.

Brenda, can we expect the $1 BiN items to appear in a section once, then never in that section again? Is that a good y/n question?

And, will there be a $1 BiN every day?

Anonymous said...

Will any 1$ items be listed before midnight tonight?

I am neglecting my house lol.

Jeannie Ruesch said...

Brenda, that's a really nice way of saying, "Jeannie is such a total computer geek, she lives for that stuff." I like your way better.

"She knows how to get them to do what you want" makes me sound soooo powerful. ROFL Now if only I could figure out the answer to that with three year olds and husbands.....

Seriously, this is such an amazing cause and it's FUN to work on, to boot! Can't beat that. :)

Okay....so will that first $1 item be put up TODAY? If you say tomorrow, I might cry since I will be away from my computer all day. LOL

Michelle Buonfiglio said...

Hi, Portia and Vanessa!

Thank you to all the Bellas for how much support you've shown Brenda and the Auction already, and those of you who've donated items, too. You can check out those items inthe RBTB & Friends section. But so many of our pals are all over Brenda's auction site, too.

It's awesome how all of romance just comes together for this event. I have the folks at Virginia Romance Writers for bringing me on board last year, and I'm so glad they did. We've had so much fun with it!

Jeannie Ruesch said...

Michelle, we might have a showdown for those diamonds. *grin*

Brenda Novak said...

The answer to Michelle's question is no. I don't have the money to do one every day (especially because I want them to be cool items). LOL But they will be as often as I can manage.

And the answer to Jeannie's question is no. (Sorry!) I have too much happening today to decide what to list first. LOL

Brenda Novak said...

Anonymous, the answer to your question is no.

Lauren Hawkeye said...

You know ladies, the very first one day auction has a diamond in it. A very very small one, but a diamond it is... :P
And Jeannie, I hear you on the competitive thing. I'm trying to write, but I keep checking my email to see if I've been outbid! I even almost bid on one of my own donations! (sheepish grin)

flchen1 said...

*ducking out of Jeannie and Michelle's way*

Boy, nothing like the promise of gems to lure all of us to the forefront! Brenda, how exciting that you're already past $25K!

It sounds like the excitement of the $1BuyItNow items is the thrill of the unpredictable chase--instead of lying in wait for prey, we'll all be chained to our computers anxiously seeking deals! Very clever! ;)

Michelle Buonfiglio said...

If only Brenda would use her powers for good instead of evil...

Michelle Buonfiglio said...

I've gotta run out for awhile and will check right back. If I find out that one of you put a finger on my $1 Buy it Now gem... Things could get ugly. I'm just sayin, is all. Don't say you weren't warned w/ a cybersmile >> :)

Brenda Novak said...

That's because you have such great donations, Lauren. I love your style.

LOL Flchen1. And I just got three donations for the $1 BUY IT NOW items. Who knew people would support even that? I thought I'd have to provide them all myself. And these are cool items. The writer/reader world is too amazing for words (how's that for a pun! LOL)

Brenda Novak said...

I can see I'm going to have to hide the diamonds very well....

Jeannie Ruesch said...

Brenda, go ahead, hide the diamonds...we'll find them. *evil grin*

Jeannie Ruesch said...

Lauren -- you've gone to the bad place when you outbid yourself. ROFL!!

Jeannie Ruesch said...

And for those of you who twitter, there is a brand new hashtag for your auction-related twitter posts, created by KresleyCole. Use #BNDA

amy*skf said...

Jeannie, I wish the voice sounded like Patrick Stewart--then, I wouldn't mind so much.

Wait, I hear Patrick Stewart's voice right now...he's saying...he saying:

Make it so Number 1--Amy is the winner of all. Bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha.

Maybe the laughter was me.

Michelle, I could so beat you to the diamonds iffen I wanted to--cuz, who's the runner?

amy*skf said...

Brenda I never thought about what happens as puberty sets in, didn't think about the body's reaction--or the brains of pubescent boys. Yikes.

OH MY GOSH BRENDA!!!!!

I will have to dig into my 401K for all the items I have bid on and it is only the first day YIKES!!!!!

It's a good thing that I DID receive my 401K a few months ago - I'll really need it :-)

If I win all the items I bid on - it will cost me over $1600 --- I worked for years for my 401 so now I will have FUN, FUN, FUN spending it and having it go to a worthy cause is an added plus.

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE.!!!!!!

Hope you find and win something that you would really like to receive.!!!!!!!

amy*skf said...

Ruth, you are awesome.

Brenda Novak said...

Amy, it's weird what various hormones do to a diabetic. Can make things dicey. I'll be glad when he's married and SUPER motivated to take care of himself. LOL I just have to get them through another 12 years or so.

Brenda Novak said...

Wow, Ruth! You really are amazing. But I don't want to prove the destruction of your retirement plan, so I'm hoping you get outbid on a few of those items. LOL Fortunately, it's early in the game. I'm glad you're having fun!

Brenda Novak said...

Thanks for spreading the info on the twitter hashtag, Jeannie. Just wish I knew how to use it. LOL I'm such a technical reject. (And now you know why I need Jeannie, folks.)

Ruth C. said...

BRENDA hoping to win everything that I am currently the high bidder on.!!!!

As I said, I am enjoying spending what I earned.

A new computer and a router might be next on the list. Oh, and also a printer since mine is shot - and this time one that is also a scanner and copier.

Have a second hand one right now that the DH has confiscated so I go down to the computer room in our high-rise.

If he wasn't still so sexy even after close to 43 years he'd be gone (just kidding).!!

After school gets out I will probably be going to visit the son and DIL to help out she was diagnosed w/ breast cancer.

So, prayers and good thoughts are appreciated.

HAVE A REAL GOOD EVENING EVERYONE AND GO BID ON SOMETHING.!!!!!!

Michele said...

Hi Michelle - Thanks for hosting the kick off blog.

Hi Brenda - Being a Type 1 myself, just wanted to say thanks you for hosting this auction every year. Every little bit gets us that much closer to a cure.

And now to the good stuff since I'm already trying to figure out what to bid on. Will we be able to see the Buy It Now flag on the items from the top listing, or will we need to click all the way into an individual item to see if it is a super-special $1 buy it now item?

Thanks!
Michele G

Brenda Novak said...

Hi Michele--I'm sorry to hear you're facing what we are, but I'm so convinced we'll see a cure soon. From my lips to God's ears, right?

Anyway, yes, you will know by scouring through the categories without having to open individual pages. I'm bad, but not that bad. LOL

Brenda Novak said...

Ruth, I can tell that you would be a blast to hang out with. I feel the same about my husband. We've been married 25 years, and he's just as gorgeous to me as the day I met him (unfortunately, he's aging a lot better than I am, which doesn't seem quite fair, since he's 5 years older).

I hope you win the things you want. And I hope you really enjoy them after you get them.

Hi Brenda!
Two years ago, I won two auction items--critiques by Madeline Hunter and Candice Hern. Boy, did they help me. I was such a greenling at the time.

My question: Will your agent's $1 item be posted by next Friday?

*grin*

Good question Tracy. I can't belive it's after 2am and I'm up having so much fun reading this thread. My hubby is going to throttle me if I don't turn out the light soon. I can see this being an obsession this month.

Hey Tracey! How great that you won items in the auction before. Critiques are wonderful to win, I highly recommend bidding on any of them. :)
