Dweeb Dreams Do Come True

Annette Blair GuestBlogs Tomorrow! The newest read in her Witch trilogy,"Never Been Witched," is out this month! CONTEST!

Last night I became a facebook fan of theoretical physicist Gordon Freeman.*

After a day spent jonesin' for those "Get With the Programmer" dream dweebs, it only made sense. Then, Bella Portia Da Costa sent me the real deal, a physicist whom, I think, anihalates like a headcrab zombie my former nerd-girl crush on sexy sultan of string theory, Nima Arkani-Hamed.

Yes, meet Brian Cox: rocker; dweeb; particle physicist. Touring worldwide with Led Zep guitar hero Jimmy Page wasn't enough for Professor Cox (go ahead, giggle). No, he had to go on to become a research fellow of the Royal Society and a BBC science stud.

But I digress. For the point of this entire post is to let you know that I've been reading Vicki Lewis Thompson's upcoming "Casual Hex," and I'm thinking it's my fave of her whole Hex series. And, yeah, the hero's a swank Euro-science guy -- Frahnch -- and, while he's not Nerd-ly, he's definitely got one of the most appealing beta deals goin on that I've read in a long time.

Yeah, I sed it. I'm diggin a beta.

Oh, and btw, check out the back-to-basics Lexicon of Love in the sidebar. Home again, home again...

Encore! *Gotta give my son the credit for turning me on to Dr. Freeman and Half-Life 2. Don't even get me started on Portal...I know, I know; the cake is a lie.

I just read a book with a yummy beta hero...what the heck was it? Sheesh. I'm losing it already. Oh! It was Second Chance Pass by Robyn Carr. Paul was a yummy beta hero. Very, very sweet.

I'm currently suffering from Earl of Banallt syndrome after reading Carolyn Jewel's SUPERB new historical, Scandal. The first chapter was a gasper and it just got better from there. I read it in less than a day! Yummy, yummy tension, real issues between the h/h and sex scenes that'll burn your panties right off! Katiebabs recommended it to me and I just loved it! And I've been totally off historicals for so long...

I completely get the geek thing. My husband is a computer scientist and a physicist. He jokes that in high school, he couldn't get a second look. Now, he's considered a major catch. I'm glad I'm the one that caught him! :-)

Hey, ThatB! Great to see you (even if you are braggin). I love that your husband is having his day -- and he's lucky enough to have you. :)

Hi, Kates - Robyn just wrote me today to tell me SCP is #19 on the NYT in its first week. I think the book's great. Love the young secondary. I got a little more macho in the hero, though. I've had the Jewel on the TBC pile. Thanks for the heads up.

Frankly, I love a good Beta. Sometimes I just don't have the strength for an Alpha.

I love this whole science geeky thing goin' on too. Nothings sexier than smart man.

And yay! for the lexicon of love.
Long live the queen.

Hi, Ames!!! Well, a really hot guy who's not so bright but keeps his mouth shut is kinda sexy...

Exspecially when he's doing push ups.

I serve at the pleasure of the Bellas of RBTB.

Figures I have to work next Friday. I will have to see if I can access the blog from there with all of our firewalls and stuff.

I can't get this to link to my blog- it says the URL is not detected. any ideas?

I'm so glad you like Professor Cox, Queen Bella! He's obviously a totally brilliant guy in the intellectual sense, as well as being easy on the eye, but he's a great communicator too. His BBC documentaries are excellent and he's an inspiring spokesman and advocate for science.

And oh, I am such a doofus... Until I clicked the link just now it hadn't dawned on me that Gordon Freeman was a fictional character! LOL

ev, do you mean through the rss feed? Or some other way? write me and maybe I can help you. Hey, stop laughing, everybody.

I think, Portia, part of the joke, other than that GF stars in the video game Half-Life 2, is that he's a "theoretical" physicist, as well as a theoretical physicist. Get it? At least I think that's the computer nerd humor that goes along with it.
