Back In Black (Lace) And Cheek(y), Too

Yeah, as Bella LeeAnn says in yesterday's comments, it sure flippin' feels like we're home again. Home being here at blogger, and not home home. 'Cause, um, unlike some of our homes, here there's no creepy Uncle Irving and his, "There once was a farmer from Venus" limericks at the dinner table.

Now, I'm not sayin' that hangin' at myLifetime wasn't awesome. Frankly, I'm proud as hell to have brought romance novels and authors and readers to that one-of-a-kind platform. I'm especially pleased to note that the tone you helped set here remained strong and positive while we lived there, and was influential, not just in the romance community, but clearly among broad-based women's websites Netwide.

But there are times in a woman's life when she reevaluates and sets new plans into motion for the dream she's been nurturing since she uttered those fateful words to her husband in 2005, "I want to get paid to read romance novels."

Then again, sometimes a girl just wants to be able to write the word cock to her heart's content without its being continually filtered out by the most frustrating tech system ever devised by a website that is not blogger.

So, home again we are, back "in the pink," if you will. And while we're waiting for the announcement of the 3 top-prize winners from the "Ain't It (A) Grand!" contest -- TBA Valentine's Day, Feb 14, 2009 -- I thought I'd kick things off by telling you 'bout a couple erom reads that really knocked my (thigh-high) stocks off...

First, "Seductions," a luscious "collection of naughtiness" from Black Lace. Ooo, my fave: Good, old-fashioned body-rocking sensuality for sensuality’s sake. “Seductions” reads like a primer for anyone wanting to learn – or live – the fantasies so many women dream, yet might be surprised to find others share. Some stories suggest happily ever afters, others simply are wicked, yet safe-in-the-fantasy encounters. Each is designed to leave you hot and breathless, even after each deeply satisfying read is wrapped.

Our very own Bella Portia Da Costa contributes to “Seductions,” and her short, “It’s Got to Be Perfect” is a dreamy, delicious set-up you may recognize from your own fantasy file. It’s got sexy the way only Portia does it, wrapped in that lovely sweetness she likes to stir in as she stirs us.

Equally stirring to the old heartstrings, as well as the parts of us that we hope will zing when we read the erom we love, is “Degrees of Passion,” Book IV in Michelle M. Pillow’s Matthews Sisters series from Cheek. In the super-hot “Degrees,” college student Sasha Matthews has trouble committing to a major or career destination. But once she meets sexy, wealthy society glamour boy Trevor Kingston, she knows who she wants to spend her life with – mansion, yacht, trust-funded kids n’ all.

Sasha and Trevor become a couple until she sees his mug on the society pages kanoodling with a celebutant and has a one-night rebound fling with cute-but-insufferably arrogant PhD candidate hottie Kevin Merchant.

Don’t’cha just know Kevin and Sasha get tossed together on a school project where they’re forced to work long hours in close quarters until Kevin’s style of tutoring Sasha leaves her begging for more – and just may win the day for the guy who thought Sasha’d never give him the time of day.

The satisfaction on this one ain't just that the sex is so dayum hawt. The fun of watching Sasha find her way to love, watching Kevin bide his time as his confidence builds and experiencing everything woven together within the tight, yet somewhat wacky fabric of the Matthews crew, adds dimention that makes "Degrees" as heavy on the romance as it is on the yummy erotic.

Hmm...wacky family...lots of hawt sex. Sounds like it's right up our alley. Gosh, it's good to be home.

Wahey, we're back home in the pink again and we can say 'cock'! Awesome!

I'm so glad you enjoyed 'It's Got To Be Perfect'. It was huge fun to write, and much as I love the smooth, polished, sophisticated guys, there's also something so very attractive and sexy about the more rough and ready types. Those down to earth blokes who are handy around the house with their tools... know what I mean, eh? ;)

Michelle Buonfiglio said...

Buongiorno, Bellas! Hiya, Portia! Ooo, rough and ready. That he was. Exactly the kind of guy who always makes me blush like a damn schoolgirl in real life.

I really liked this anthology and gave a copy to a friend of mine who's new to romance. I told her it's a great starter collection of some "common" fantasies that women dig: Being the one one-nighter that hot bartender chooses when it's against policy; shagging the guy your husband's picked out for you while your husband watches; naughty goings on in the dressing room at the clothing store; having at those guys (en masse) you were 'just friends' with back in school; having the handyman of your dreams when do-it-yourself just doesn't do the trick...

Your comment about handy with the tools reminds me of when my girlfriend's sweet-but-a-little-clueless mom once told a large group of mixed company, gushing about her vacuum, "It's my favorite tool in the house!"

Hey Michelle!!! I have to admit, I am sooo glad you are back home. I was not the biggest fan of the interfaces at Lifetime and it took me until November to figure out that I could but the blog over there on my google reader. (But that was a duh on my part...)

But, YAY!!! And I will definitely be checking out that Seductions anthology. I love me some erotic short stories:)

Welcome back!

Michelle Buonfiglio said...

Manda, if it gets me to see you more often, I'm most pleased to be back!

Manda said...

Aww, Michelle! You know how to make a girl feel loved;)

Now, where's my umbrella drink?

Kristen Painter said...

Congrats on your move, Michelle! Pink is definitely your color.

WOOT!! WOOT!!! So glad to be in the old digs Queen Bella, where things are a lot less controlling. Welcome home doll, Welcome Home

And so glad to see you spotlighting Michelle Pillow. I go way back with her and Mandy Roth. These two ladies are AWESOME.

And Portia of course RAWKS the house. God, it really is good to be home, where we can kick off our shoes and just relax. *sigh*

Michelle, I'm glad you're home again too! As you say, Lifetime offered awesome opportunities but this place is just right somehow! And I must say I won't miss the registration process over there!

Congratulations on launching Queen RBTB 2 and long may she sail the seven seas!

Portia, congratulations on the anthology. Sounds great!

By the way, we say cock all the time over on Bandits. Oh, no, that's right. He's a ROOSTER!!!!
Snort!

HOT DAMN! We're home again and it's oh so good to be here!

Michelle, those stories sound yummy. I will definitely be checking them out.

Chuckling about your friend's mom and her "favorite tool".

I must say, this is almost -- almost -- as much fun as my birthday! Ok, maybe better. I really do fee as though I can breath a little more deeply, especially because I'm not feeling everybody else's pain, you know? Feeling bad cause of all the tech probs.

But I must say, it' doesn't surprise me that it took Anna and Mon mere nanoseconds to drag us all down into the cybergutter. Really! I'm all a-swoon.

I'm so glad you're joining in my celebration, PJ. It's really fun to be back in the pink with good friends. What a joy.

Thank you, Kristen! :)

Hi Michelle,
Welcome back to you and to us all -- I wish you the very very best as you settle back in here and plan the next fabulous, sexy attack on Internet romance. We all know this is the best group anywhere, and wherever you are and whatever you plan is/will be awesome!

I'm looking forward to checking out the great stories you just recommended. You never steer us wrong!

Yea, blogger works with my computer, sadly the other site caused my old computer to die. So now I can read the C word plus all the other words you write.

Janga said...

Hurrah! I'm so glad to see you "in the pink" again. This is just a homier spot, especially for the technologically challenged among us.

Michelle Buonfiglio said...

Hiya, Janga! So good to see you! I do feel it's homier, too. I always remember trying to explain that to tech designers, but falling short of the mark.

Speaking of techno-challenged, apparently some folks can't see the new blog in some browsers. I use firefox, but it's not coming up in IE or safari and some others. I guess it could be some of the add-ons, like, maybe the share buttons?

And I thought the tech problems were over. sigh. Anybody got any thoughts?

ugh, sara, I'm sorry about your computer. It's so scary to think about how many people had problems. I still feel guilty, which is either bad, or really good, since i'm always in the running for Catholic of the Year.

Jane said...

Hey Bellas,
I'm really digging the pink. Going to have to check out these books. I've never read anything from Black Lace.

YAY!!!!!!! I'm so glad you're back here again! It always took me forever just to *find* the blog at Lifetime! Now maybe I'll be able to do more than lurk for a change!!

Welcome home. In case you can't tell, I'm excited. :o)

cas2ajs said...

Awww . . . so good to be back "home". Like Kristina, I always had trouble finding the blog at Lifetime. And even though I'm a notorious lurker, commenting there was just a real hassle for me.

Hi,
I'm a newbie but I did want to say that the couple of times I visited the MyLifetime site I found it confusing to navigate. I don't know the story behind the change but I'm glad to visit you here. Much more user friendly.

Lauren Dane said...

Welcome back! Love the pink and well, who doesn't like to say cock every once in a while?

amy*skf said...

I am so freakin' happy--I could sing the SPAM song with only the word cock in it.

You're singing it in your head now aren't you? I love erotic anthologies--probably because I'm a lover of quickies.

Glad I figured out to go to firefox.

*looks around*

Wow! Look who's back in the neighborhood. Welcome back to blogger, Michelle! It's damn good to see you in this here neck of the woods. You know, where we say bad words.

*wink*

Welcome back, Bella. I hope the move means only wonderful things for you professionally, and of course, (altruistically) for we readers.

Do you see how I said "damn" there? And didn't get censored? Feature that!

Santa said...

Home again. Home again. Jigga-di-jig!

Nice digs we have here, Michelle and so easy to access and comment in and follow comments.

Yes, I am happy to be here with you all.

Hey, my word verification is snotset! A strange bit of alliteration, yes?

Caren Crane said...

Michelle, you look FABULOUS in pink! So great to see you up and running once again. So much easier to FIND, too! All the Banditas are thrilled to see you blogging once again. We'll be sure to pop by from the Lair now and then. Ciao, bella!

I’m sorry I’m late to the party but I have IE at work and just downloaded Firefox (thanks for the tip Kati!) at home till IE is compatible again :o)

Welcome home Michelle!!! It’s so nice to have the page up load in seconds and not minutes! See I knew there was a reason I never deleted this page from my favorites.

Welcome home!
I didn't visit very often when you were on Lifetime. Just wasn't comfortable there.

Michelle Buonfiglio said...

Buongiorno, Bellas! So glad to see everyone! And thanks for being patient while I figured out -- I think I figured out -- what was the prob with the blog.

It's SO wonderful to hear from so many of you who did attempt to visit at myLifetime. Can I please share with you that I knew you were out there, and was sad you weren't able to take part. I was especially unhappy when I knew you'd just threw your hands in the air -- and not in a disco-y 'wave 'em like ya jus don care' way -- and didn't come back.

Yet I COMPLETELY understood, and might have done the same (and probably would have on some days, after stomping and swearing at you for leaving blogger). :)

The funny thing is, as frustrating as some of the issues were, I keep scrolling up, thinking I can respond to each of your comments directly beneath your comment! I remember how I hated that when it was new at lifetime. Apparently, I can't be pleased. (Regardless of what I keep telling Dave).

There's no place like home. There's no place like home.

Does this mean we can finally type dick in again, too??? I will have to retrain my fingers to type correctly!

Lifetime was always a mess for me to get into and try and respond and it got very frustrating, and I didn't stop by as often as i would have liked. I missed this place.

I will never bitch about typing in the spam word again!!!

ev said...

How do you get your avatar to show up??

Kati said...

ev - Go to your profile and add in the photo or image you want to show up. Holler at me on email if you can't figure it out, you've got my addy. I'll talk you through it.

Portia Da Costa said...

Wahey, glad to see you got the issues sorted out, Queen Bella!

Yay it works with EI so I can hangout while at work too :o)

I AM SO GLAD YOU'RE HOME!! It's great to be back in the pink!

Michelle Buonfiglio said...

You guys are making me verklept. I've gotta go placate my kids for awhile. In the meantime, here's a topic: How many naughty words are we gonna type in the next few days just for the sheer joy of it?

Discuss.

Portia Da Costa said...

Naughty words? What a shocking thought! You know that I would never dream of using naughty words in my pure and wholesome prose... ;)

Melissa said...

Yay and welcome back! I never could comment at the other place.

Julie in Ohio said...

WOO HOO!!!! It is good to be home again. I enjoyed our time at Lifetime but as it's already been pointed out, there is no place like home. =o)
It is nice to be able to say 'cocktail' and 'Mickey Mouse' again. I never did understand why they got blocked...

Plus, Bellas look so pretty in pink. ;o)

Julie in Ohio said...

Bonus#2; I'm not a blank shadow.

Kate Pearce said...

Glad to be back in pink landia!

And just have to mention, cough, cough, that I have a 'Cheek' book out today of my very own-Riding the Line', which is also the last of the "Cheek' line which has now closed-sniff. I'll miss those covers and those cowboys...

amy*skf said...

I'm still so happy! Kate--luuurve the cover.
And it looks as if all is well in IE land too.

Hullo Kati and Julie!

Hi all -

As one of the Romance Bandits, I'll fight to the death the right to type cock - especially a certain Golden Cock -a-doodle (grin).

Glad to have you in a more user-friendly environment.

Buongionro again, Bellas! Hmmm, I'm sensing a theme here: Ease of use goooood...

Thanks for the lovely welcome! Is it just me, or does just seein the old blogger user names feel good? I guess that shadow outline never really looked good on anybody, JulieO, kinda like gauchos.

Um, LeeAnn? You may not be old enough to remember, but gauchos were these wide, cropped pants we wore back in the 70s...

Welcome, Banditas! Thank you for visiting! I know many of you tried to visit Monday -- as so many of the rest of you did -- but I didn't realize a little glitch in the system.

Great to have you all back! Great to be back!
