TiVo DiVa!

Think of it as a public service since I'm ignorant about television. The TiVo DiVa always has the skinny on what to watch and why. It's crazy scary, but she generally calls the best shows before they're even hot.

She's really nice, just like youz.

And best of all? She knows how to program her recording device.

Encore! Nina, you won the copy of Suzanne Brockmann's "Ladies' Man." Email me w/ your address, Bella!

Congratulations Nina - fab prize. I am so jealous LOL.

Michelle, what a great blog with Suz. Very touching. I hope she gets a lot more attention. And did you see that? She yelled at me LOL. Time to make like Popeye and get with the green stuff...ick.

Love your review Michelle, and makes me want to bread into a Borders store nearest me and find this book! Great point on ARC's. I've been lucky enough to get arc's from Lori Foster & Erin McCarthy, and I wouldn't sell them for anything. It's tacky to say the least. They are priceless to me so I'm not giving them up.

Anybody got big plans for the weekend? Me, well I think I'm gonna eat some spinach *g*

MaryKate said...

Mornin' Bellas. I'm sorry Michelle, I'm going to have to insist, you need to spill at least one teensy-tiny little detail about LA. No, seriously. You just have to throw us a bone!

I'm stressed today. My puppydog is having surgery today. She's going to be fine, I know it. But I'll feel better when they call.

This weekend I'm not doing too much. All my friends who got married a few years ago have heeded to admonishment, "Go forth and populate." So, I'm going to make about three batches of lasagna and deliver them to houses with new babies. I'm also going to go see INVINCIBLE, the new Marky-Mark movie. I love me some football!

I'm in the midst of MORRIGAN'S CROSS, Nora's new one. It's really interesting. It features a secondary character in this book that will be a hero in the next. He is a real anti-hero, which she doesn't usually write. Plus it's extremely paranormal, and so far I'm enjoying it very much.

What's everyone else reading??

Also, who's our TiVo Diva? I thought I was the TV junky on the blog!

OOOOOOoooooo..... McDreamy....yummy. That is such a nice way to wake up in the morning. And I haven't even had my coffee yet.

Congrats Nina!!

I hope Suz can come back soon.

MK-Puppy will be fine. I knnow I get the same way when any of mine are sick. One curently has a hot spot that had to be shaved. Keep us posted.

I can't wait to see Invincible. Told the Kid that was the next one we were going to see-she works for Regal Theaters, so we get to go for free!! After 21 years, I knew that there had to be a perk to having a kid!

Michelle, just read your review over at Romance: B(u)y the Book. Wow! I was already waiting for this book with baited breath, and now I'm so hyped I think I'll go camp out in front of the bookstore! Gotta get me some Z!

Julie in Ohio said...

Eve, I'll keep you company during the camp out. :o)

Michelle, great review!!!
And if it helps, I'll give you my address now so you can mail me that ARC... :P

As Eve said "Gotta get me some Z!"

MK, good luck with puppy. I know all will be good. :o)

Stacy, spinach?

Our county fair is this week. We'll be going tomorrow.
I'll be sure to eat an elephant ear for ya. :o)
See, MK, I'm learning to be a GIVER just...like...you... :P

Julie in Ohio said...

Congrats, Nina!!!!

MaryKate said...

OOOh, that's right Jules, I'd forgotten about elephant ears.

I'm going to head to BAM tonight to see if they've shelved LA early. The sometimes do. I'm not sure I'll survive until Tuesday. Plus we're getting the remnants of Ernesto for the next couple of days, I think it sounds like a perfect thing to do on a rainy day, read LA!

Michelle, maybe today would be a good day to get everyone to list some of their favorite romances, I'm headed to BAM anyway, I could pick up some new reads!

MaryKate said...

Thanks for the support Bellas. Heard from the vet a little while ago. Roxie made it through just great and is now in recovery. I can go pick her up at 3:00. Yay!

Poor little punkin', she's gonna be miserable!

Vivi Anna said...

I can't wait for Lover Awakened. I love Z.

Hmm, let's dish about sexy HAWT men...

How about Mark Wahlberg...I'm so happy that he's getting soem good roles. I like him as an actor...plus it helps that he's so f*&^ing HAWT! Anyone ever see his excerise video he did when he was still Marky-Mark? I guess it's a huge hit with the gay market...

Two of my favorite movies of his...Fear, and The Big Hit. Oh and The Corrupter with Chow Yun Fat. You get to see Marks' amazing ass in that movie..oh and I adore Rock Star. I saw it three times in the theatre.

MaryKate said...

Well Vivi, I'll be enjoying Mark Wahlberg's smokin' a$$ this weekend at the movies! I'll provide a full report, I promise.

I'm enjoying McDreamy. I think we should also take a moment to enjoy McSteamy too (Eric Dane) he's SO. FREAKIN'. HOT.

rachd said...

Let's talk Ernesto! I was awakened at 4:30 to driving rain and wind and still had to go to work this morning. I get to work and the only other people there were the custodians. I had to answer phones and tell people to come to work becuase we were NOT closed. They finally closed schools (we have some year round) but employees still had to report. There was flooding everywhere and branches all over the streets (even the interstate). They finally told us to go home at 9:30. I had already been at work two hours. My commute is minimum 45 minutes. It took me over an hour and a half to get home. I'm extremely irritated at the moment. Grrrrrrrr.

MK, I would ask you to bring me some lasagna, but I couldn't ask you to come out in this weather. It stinks!

ev said...

MK- So glad roxie if ok. make sure she doesn't get dehydrated tho, ok?

The library sent me an email that the new SB is waiting for me. I gotta go get it!! Will have to wait for it to come out in pb to buy it tho. ::sigh:: but they have a whole bunch of stuff waiting for me, which means I will have to NOT start anything if I plan to get any housework done. It is supposed to rain all weekend here too, so I need to get any outside stuff done now.

I am glad Ernesto didn't bother any of you. We will just get the rain and cold. ::sigh:: I guess summer is over...

MaryKate said...

Aww, Rach, I'm so sorry! I think some Ritas and Krispy Kremes might be in order. Poor baby! I'm so sorry about Ernesto hitting you so hard! I'm hoping it won't be like that for us. But we're ready to drain the pool if we need to.

Michelle Buonfiglio said...

I'm still coming down from yesterday! What fun hanging with Suzanne Brockmann and her friends. I think we did OK for ourselves, don't you?

Vivs: Wasn't he in Boogie Nights? I kinda dug that one. So many great actors before some became acTORs.

I'm kinda psyched he's doin this new one, ev (and who else said they were goin?) beins I was a Philly Eags girl when I was growing up. Greg Kinnear as Vermiel? WILD! If my father had only lived to see this day.

MK, I'm really glad your puppy's gonna be fine. Does he have to wear one of the outerspace signal detector collars? I hope they have LA for you.

Lemmee see, is there anything I can tell you? John's in it. And I'm thinking, I can barely wait for his transition so we can read his story. Even the little taste of it's potential is HAWT.

And Z is everything you imagined and harsher and sexier and, just, more. Oh. OhOhOh.

JulieO, my husband wants to go the NM state fair this weekend. Everything imaginable on sticks. So giving of you to eat the ears for us. Give give give. Don't you get tired of it?

And, yes, didn't we discuss that I was having someone come on to talk TV? You two are gonna love each other.

Stacy, we're worried about you, Bella. Gots to get your vitaminerals. Ackackackack. (that's Popeye laughing)

I'm reading: Into the Storm, Pamela Clare's "Ride the Fire," Edith Layton's new "For the Love of a Pirate," started Xtna's new Lost Princess, Connie Brockway's "Hot Dish."

HI, Evie! You are like, the biggest Brotherhood fan I know. You turned me ON to them, for gosh sakes. Thank you so much!!! I actually have a JR interview, but she just sent it last night. It won't post til maybe Tues or something. She just turned in BUTCH last night.

Have you guys read the preview of Butch? I think it's online at jrward.com. I'm all atremble already. The cop is fine.

Julie in Ohio said...

Glad you made it home OK, Rach. Driving in that kind of weather is not only not fun but dangerous, too...

MK, great news on the pup!!!

Vivi, I loved Fear and Rock Star. I was leary on his long hair to begin with but it grew on me. I decided his hair could be put in dreds and I'd still think him HAWT!!! I didn't see his exercise video but I remember his Calvin Klein ads. He can wash my dishes in Calvins any day...

Julie in Ohio said...

Yes, I've read the excerpt for Butch and I am all a flutter...
I have come to the conclusion that JR Ward could write a physics paper and make it amazing...

I got MURPHYS LAW and will begin that as soon as I have a free moment. I also have NR ANGEL FALLS and BLUE SMOKE.

MaryKate said...

I loved BLUE SMOKE, Jules. I'll be interested to hear what you think. The hero is seriously delicious! And he has one of those ultimate hero names, Bowen Goodnight. SIGH. I love him.

Michelle, I'm not sure yet whether Roxie will need to wear an "E" collar (E= Elizabethian). It depends on whether she leaves the incision alone or not. Poor little thing. I'll be glad to collect her this afternoon and get her home where I can watch her.

I have NO books on deck right now. I'm thinking I'll re-read SEP's last one, MATCH ME IF YOU CAN, I like her writing alot and am in the mood for a sports story. Since I'm off to the bookstore today, anyone have any suggestions for me?

azteclady said...

Hello, ladies!

Stopping by to thank you again for the wonderful welcome yesterday.

Nina, congrats on getting Ladies' Man!

I am afraid I cannot contribute to the book discussion as I haven't yet read any of JR Ward's books (though they are on my list). I really liked NR's Blue Smoke and Angel's Fall. And of course, Into the Storm.

For those of you who haven't read any of SB's books, I do recommend starting at the beginning if you can--The Unsung Hero--and working your way through the series in order.

PS Stacy~ *waving* hi, there.

Julie in Ohio said...

MK, I recently finished MYSTERIA which is an anthology with Mary Janice Davidson, PC Cast, Gena Showalter and Susan Grant. It was a fun paranormal with some great heroes.
HMMMM...let's see...SMOKE IN THE MIRROR was a good book by JAK with a few little twists and turns I didn't see coming.
You could always reread those really fine examples of vamp brotherhood. :P

Other than that, I'm coming up empty... :o)

Julie in Ohio said...

I am in excitement overload here. I just realized in addition to Z's book coming out next week so is the next book in Christine Feehan's Dark series.
I preordered it from Amazon back in May and I should get it by friday. :o)

I am so excited I could just wet myself...TMI?

catslady said...

Congrats Nina, great prize. Was a great guestblog day and I'm looking forward to J.R Ward.

I just finished reading Lucy Monroe's The Real Deal and started the DaVinci Code.

Vivi Anna said...

Vivi's book recommendations:

Getaway Girl by Michele Hauf - fun Bombshell book

The Turning by Jennifer Armintrout - vampires, and the bad guy is super super evil

Rogue Angel: Destiny by Alex Archer - one of the best reads I've had this year...Indiana Jones meets the Davinci Code

Right now I'm reading Dangerous Temptation by Kathleen Korbel, it's one of the first Nocturne books. It's really good.

The Nocturne authors (read...me) just launched their new website today...check it out and enter the super cool contest!

Hey guys! I know everyone is MAJORLY excited about ZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!! Yay!

We were just without power for four hours and have MAJOR flooding in our backyard! Monkey thought we had a new kind of pool on her playground!

The house is fine, the hubby's workshop sustained some flood damage, but Ernesto has passed on.

Jennifer Y. said...

I have yet to read JR Ward's books, but I really want to.

MaryKate said...

Hi rach! Well, it's raining sideways at my house right now, but at least we didn't have to drain the pool so far. We lost power for about 4 hours too, but it's back now. Thank goodness!

Julie in Ohio said...

Sheesh. It's days like this that I'm glad I live up in the north. Although, I'll trade ya's in the winter... :P

Jennifer, I don't have much room to talk but the brotherhood is not a series to miss. The Bellas bullied me (in the bestest of ways) into getting the books about a month ago and I am so glad I did. They are superb. I love them. The world that JR Ward has weaved is dark and fantastic.
Have I mentioned yet that the BDB are HAWT!!!
I think everyone should be able to pick their own Brother from the pack to snuggle up with on a cold dark night...warm early morning...mid afternoon...really the time of day doesn't matter.

Rach, have you read them yet?

Vivi Anna said...

It's funny, the first one Dark Lover, I didn't like all that much. The only thing I was thinking about was hey who's this Zadist guy? I thought it was okay...and said well I'll just try the next one...Lover Eternal solidified the series for me. I really really enjoyed that one, and can't wait for Lover Awakened.

Julie in Ohio said...

I will admit that it took me a little longer to get into Dark Lover. I think it was because it was different from any other books I had read. But once I did I devoured it. I finished it in one night and the next night was devoted to Lover Eternal. I couldn't put either down until they were done.
I'm with you, Vivi, Zsadist really stood out with me too. I think it was the reaction the other Brothers had to him that made me wonder what his story is.

MaryKate said...

Personally, I'm a Tohr girl, although from what I hear, Rehvenge is something worth savoring as well. (Michelle, feel free to weigh in with some juicy tidbits!)

But I love me some Tohrment, even though I'm worried about him. I've heard whispers that bad things are about to happen. And I'm just not sure I'm gonna make it through his pain.

Julie in Ohio said...

I hear ya, MK. I don't want anything to happen to Wellsie either, but I'm sure JR will do good by Tohr.
Rehvenge. That's Bella's bro isn't it? I'm sure he's a force to be reckoned with. With a name like that, you would have to be. :o)

ev said...

Julie- Mysteria is sitting here in my tbr pile.

to hell with housework, I am reading the new SB. heck, i had to do something while I was getting my car inspected. And it was just sitting there. Calling my name. Loudly. Many times. Insistantly. I caved.

rachd said...

Yay! The cable modem is back up!!! We got back power and lost the cable--all night long!

I had a hard time getting into Wrath's story, but was completely sucked into Rhage.

MaryKate said...

IGOTITIGOTITIGOTIT!!!!!!!!

Yes, my darlings, I'm about to curl up with my very own bright, shiny LOVER AWAKENED and savor, savor, savor. WOOHOO! God bless BAM!

After last night, my puppy cried ALL.NIGHT.LONG. I have a deep respect for all you mommies out there. I figured all totalled, I got about 2 hours of sleep. Now that my errands are done, I'm in my slob clothes and am on the couch with tea and Z!

BTW, finished MORRIGAN'S CROSS last night. I really enjoyed it. Alot. I'm dying to talk about it. Has anyone else read it yet? It's very paranormal, very un-Nora, and quite frankly, dark. Quite dark. I really loved it.

Julie in Ohio said...

MK, BAM = Books A Million?

Excuse me. I have an emergency drive to make...

MaryKate said...

Jules - Yup, BAM = BooksAMillion!

Julie in Ohio said...

I will not scream. I will not scream...

I GOT IT! I GOT IT! I GOT IT!
{{{{{YEAH HOO}}}}}

OK, now I'm off for a little BDB lovin'. :o)

BTW, MK, I got Morrigan's Cross while I was out. I will start that as soon as I get my BDB fix. :o)

ev said...

MK- is Morrigan a Nora Roberts book? Paranormal huh? I may just have to go dig one up. Hope you get more sleep tonite. How is puppy doing?

I am still doing Into the Storm. I love it!! Daughter keeps asking me what I am lauging about in the book. Told her she would have to read it herself. Bad Mommy.

Eve Silver said...

OMG!!!! I got my Z!!! I'm so excited.

And thanks to all who mentioned Morrigan's Cross. I picked that up while I was out as well.

Lastly, I want to mention my most recent read... WHAT A GENTLEMAN WANTS by Caroline Linden. Great book. I opened the first page just to get a taste, and I was glued right through to the end. For those who like their romance Regency-set, try this one!

Julie in Ohio said...

My kids insisted that they needed to be fed. I don't know what their deal is. Don't they know mommy is in the middle of some serious Z?
So, I'm making dinner and thought I would check in.

Eve, I'll have to check WAGW out. I love historicals. :o)

Ev, yes it is NR. It is the first book in her new trilogy.

MaryKate said...

It's just soooo, soooo, perfect. Vivi, you are going to LOVE you some Z, he's just your type, I think.

I haven't finished it yet, I've got about 100 pages to go, but my Bellas, the Warden has delivered in such a big way! I'm all warmed up to gush like a monster fangrrl when she comes! SIGH.

PS - One more thing...Michelle, you didn't mention in your review that the love scenes in this book are incindiary! YOWZA!

Vivi Anna said...

MK, waaaaaaaaaa, don't tease me...

I havent' gotten the book yet, and I promised myself I would wait until I finsihed the first draft of my Nocturne book, as a reward!

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA, I hate delayed gratificaiton. I WANT MY Z NOW!!

rachd said...

Okay, as soon as hubby gets home and I can desert him with the sick baby I'm off to BAM!

rachd said...

Oh, and MK, I'm so sorry about Roxie being up all night. That really does stink.

Michelle Buonfiglio said...

OK. I swore I would not get on the computer today, only read books for Old Flames.

But my husband checked in here, then I couldn't help myself. So!

Congrats to youz who caught your Zs early, Bellas. It'll be interesting MOnday. Last time JR was here, folks complained cause they were at work and couldn't chat. Mon, we're all off, so I wonder if more folk's blog on. And, she's doing a big check-in bet 5 and 7 EST so, we'll see!

Ooops, MK. Didn't I mention about the love scenes? I kinda did, something about violence and eroticism or somethin? Anyway, there's this one scene in particular with Z, where he does this thing that is so sexy and is one of the favorite things I like a hero to do in a romance.

'sAll's I'm sayin.

Viv, shocking about the whole delayed grat thing.

Eve, I agree on the Caroline Linden thing. I LOVED "What a Woman Needs."

You know, Bellas, I had a similar experienced the first time I read Dark Lover. I didn't understand the whole vampire thing yet, and Dark Lover is just like a total dope slap. So I put it down a few days then started it again. Now I'm plain obsessed.

JulieO I hate that neediness in children. I try to ignore mine, but they insist on hugging and kissing me and telling me they want to eat, just like yours. What was i thinking?

MK, hope the puppy's doing better.

Rach, I SO remember the "sick child hand-off" when Dave walked through the door.

ev, bad mommy = good mommy.
Hey Cats and Aztec ladies! Glad you're back.

Now, I hear you guys talking about your favorite BDBs. And Z is still mine. Well, I'm fickle. Cause I just can't get this idea out of my mind about how JR WArd's gonna treat the whole John going through the transition thing. Really, I'm so intrigued by him...

OK. Back to the grindstone.

Julie in Ohio said...

I've become curious about Phury. I'm not done with LA yet but with what I have read I'm thinking his story is going to be HAWT! Especially with the whole celibacy thing he's got going on.
I'm on board with John. I can't wait for his transition. He going to be force to be reckoned with.
Butch is my fav human bro...ok, he's the only human bro, but I love how he holds his own with them. I can't believe we have to wait until next March for his story. Good side...my birthday is March so "happy birthday to me..." :P
I am putting a block on Tohr. I hate the thought on anything happening to Wellsie so I refuse to think about his story.
I love V but I'm still not sure what to make of him. He is great to hang with and is kick a$$ in a fight but I'm not feeling his story yet. I can't wait to see what is in store for him. :o)

MaryKate said...

I'm done. Well, the first read through. It's supposed to be gorgeous here tomorrow (after two days of rain, we need it!) so I'm gonna lie by the pool and re-read.

Ladies, this book was SO worth the wait. I'm not saying that I enjoyed the wait, but it was totally worth it! And, so, so, so much happens! It astounds me how much she's able to propel the story forward while still giving such an amazing payoff to the main couple. Really.

I wasn't on the Z bandwagon, he's almost too tortured for me. But now, I'm all about him. Don't get me wrong, I'm still a Tohr girl, and Phury is really tugging at me too. It's just all so much. It's like a candy store, every flavor you could need or want. And all so big and male.

MaryKate said...

Jules, when in March? Me too! The 17th!

Julie in Ohio said...

LOL! I'm the 19th.

MaryKate said...

No wonder we get along so well! My BF and I share a birthday and my roommate is 3 days behind us. Weird, huh?

We'll have to have krispy kremes all around in March, to go with Butch of course. Not quite as delicious, but you get the idea!

Julie in Ohio said...

LOL! Sounds like a party to me!! :o)

Julie in Ohio said...

Yay! I finished LA and loved it. It was great but I will rave and post my gripes tomorrow. Yes, I have a couple complaints...we'll call them questions...for Ms. Ward. On a whole, OMG just doesn't begin to touch it. It was fantastic...
Now I'm off to stick my nose in MORRIGAN'S CROSS.

BTW, just got back from the fair and had an elephant ear in your honor... :o)

MaryKate said...

I was gonna ask about elephant ears. I'll be interested to hear what your questions are. I'm more in "But, but, but, but whhhhhy?!?!?!" mode.

Don't get me wrong, I adored it. Seriously adored it. So much so that I'm not sure I'll survive until Butch.

Julie in Ohio said...

MK, I'm know I'm going to go nutso before March...

"But, but, but, but whhhhhy?!?!?!" mode...

Yes, I am in that camp...

Adored it. Loved it. Craving more of it. Will read it again at least 12 times before Butch graces us with his story...

rachd said...

Jules, you generous soul you! How kind of you to grease down your innards with yummyness for us. You and your sacrifices. :oP

MK, you have me very very worried about someone in LA. Oh, dear. It's like reading HP, even after you figured out who it was who was gonna wind up biting it. Do you keep reading? Do you just stop? But no, you can't stop now, you're in too deep...

MaryKate said...

Oh you'll have to read it Rach, it's totally worth it. And I think that the pay off will be worth it in the end, but it's a long and winding road she has us on and there are bumps along the way.

I hope Michelle is going to give us some guidelines for the chat tomorrow, I'd imagine there will be far more people who haven't read it than those of us who have. I'm not sure how spoilery she's going to let us be...

LOL! Word ver = bgaggtwx "Bag o' Twicks"

rachd said...

Oh, I'll *definitely* read it! I can't NOT read it, you know what I'm sayin'?? It's Z after all.

Julie in Ohio said...

No worries, Rach.
Just repeat the mantra that I say... The author knows what she is doing and she will make it right for both reader and character...

Yes, the grease build up in my system is something to be awed at. Alka-seltzer cocktail, anyone?

MaryKate said...

Rach, you'll be glad to know that she does SO incredibly right by Z. So true to him, and his personality. She makes him grow in all the right and believable ways. At the same time she advances the story SO much. You'll be very happy with Z and Bella's story. It's exactly as it should be. Perfect.

rachd said...

That is good to know, MK. It would be jarring for her to redeem him too much too quickly, ya know? She does a good job revealing little hints of his personality and inner demons in LE, so I'm anxious for LA! Too bad it's out my first week of school...

Julie in Ohio said...

I am saving my gushing for tomorrow.

Z is still my #1 Brother. Although, Phury and Vishous are now on my radar...
I have theories about John...
Butch is such a MAN that I want to slap him silly then jump him...

March, uh?

Stacy~ said...

blahblahblah (covering ears) I haven't read it yet so I'm not listening, but dayamn I want me a Brother. LOL Julie, yeah that Butch is asking to be punished ;)

Marg said...

I am only just reading the first Brotherhood book...and oh my goodness! I wish I had the rest of the week off so that I could just read all of them straight through.
