Lover Awakened

Oh. My. God.

I just got the advance copy of JR Ward's "Lover Awakened." I did a happy dance in my kitchen, kissed the book, and danced some more. My kids saw this, and may be scarred for life.

But they can't possibly be as scarred as Zsadist, the Black Dagger brother featured in this book. I've been dying, DYING I tell you, for Z's story. I don't think I've ever been more intrigued by a hero.

Who's your favorite Black Dagger Brother? Why?

Have you/will you read the Black Dagger Brotherhood novels?

Encore! JR Ward will be here to guestblog September 4 to celebrate the release of "Lover Awakened!"

Encore due! Read about "Lover Eternal" at Romance: B(u)y the Book. And check out JR's RBtheBlog guestblog "The Road to Rhage," March

OMG!!! Michelle, I am so jealous of your advance copy. I can't wait for Z's story.

I don't have a favorite brother... I love 'em all. But as you know, my son thinks Wrath is the best.

I am sososososo jealous! I cannot wait that long for it to come out. I love all the brothers but i think I am most interested in Phury's book.

Zsadist, Zsadist, Zsadist. When I read Dark Lover, I sort of got the Zsadist thing, but then--BUT then, I read Lover Eternal and well then I got it.

Eve, I love them all too, and Kris, Phury is very intriguing--but who am I kidding--I want to gobble them all up, find out all their secrets and sorrows and then I realize I'm happier with the anticipation of it all.

Eve, I wanted more of Wrath in Rhage's book--I missed him.

Well I thoroughly enjoyed Dark Lover, and I've been waiting to find time to read the second book, now I have a third to read. *sigh* No rest for the weary. *grin*

Look forward to your review of the book, Michelle.

BTW, ladies, thanks for all your comments on Baby's heart issues. I'm just relieved everything is over and we can move forward. She's one happy camper today, since it was field day! *grin*

Amy, I missed Wrath, too... and Beth. But I understand that we needed to focus on Rhage's story. But now Z is calling to me...

MaryKate said...

Michelle - I don't want this to hurt your feelings, because really, I love you. But also...I hate you. ;-P

OK, so spill it. How many pages? I know Butch is up next, but what do we hear about my beloved Tohr? That's the BDB hero I'm most looking forward to. I'm worried about my Tohr. I have a really bad feeling about where his story is going.

I have to say that this series brings out my serious inner fan girl. I can't deal with how stoopid I am about it! I'm 35 and should not be getting this excited about these books, but I can't help it.

So, Wrath and Beth have to come back sooner or later. Cause, what about the foundling they're raising? How flippin cool will it be when he comes of age and we learn his story? Or am I getting confused?

I don't know. Z just calls to me. He's so damaged. Ward says she got into some pretty deep stuff in this book. I'm dying to pick it up. It's bad enough I'm here instead of writing and getting ready for a meeting tomorrow. Maybe I could just take a little peeky at the first chapter...

Yes, Amy. Gobble, indeed. Ward writes such great guy's guys, doesn't she? And they are such Big Men, Big in All Ways.

Oh, Ames, you have to tell Eve your neo-Gothic story! That was you, right?

Iiiiiinteresting, Kris. Phury. He is quite the enigma, you're right. I'll have to obsess on him through this book.

You know MON, we should have an official weekend where we plan to read instead of work. Just rest and read. Could we pull it off? What would we call it? Would our husbands leave us?

Michelle Buonfiglio said...

No, MaryKate. I know you mean that in the nicest way possible. :)

Pages: 434 with NO TEASER!

Even if could say any more, I can't cause I'm not opening it till at least Wed night.

Good call: inner FanGrl! Me, too. I get excited, all squirmy and silly feeling; like the Brothers are real people. Well, JR told us they kinda are to her, so who are we to argue, right? I love having a little fantasy to look forward to. Kinda like being a kid again. But with age-appropriate fun and games.

This is my last post, cause I have so so so so so so much to do.

amy*skf said...

Marykate I am in my late 40s and I can hardly stop clenching my butt cheeks just thinking about it--so fangrl, yes.

Julie in Ohio said...

Goodness, I haven't read these books yet. I'm getting the impression I need to get off my butt and get them. :o)

I'm loving these heroes's (I'm assuming they are the heroes) names.

MaryKate said...

Well, Amy, that's quite a visual ;-P

But I get what you're saying. I've already about read the words off of Lover Eternal. I lurk at JR's message boards, mainly because she does give out sneak peeks. But she's pretty silent about my guy Tohr, so I'm getting really worried. I asked her about it when she posted over at the Squawk, and well, she didn't sound very optimistic about his story (as in that bad things are gonna happen).

I'm excited about Z though, just because I love me some tortured hero!

Julie in Ohio said...

Which one is first?

MaryKate said...

Dark Lover then Lover Eternal. Seriously, ladies, if you haven't read these RUN to the bookstore. They are incredible reads.

The world is overwhelmingly well designed and the mythology is so complete that you'll be astounded!

Fair warning though, the books are long (which is great with me!) and the sex is...inventive -- although monogamous.

Man, I'm missing some good chat from being back at work:( Oh well, gotta bring home the bacon...

Michelle, I am SOOO jealous! Don't you need an apprentice or something?

Can't wait for Zsadist's story! Though, I must admit that my faves are Rhage and Tohr. And I have a soft spot for Butch too. Okay, so I guess I like 'em all.

Mary Kate, I'm so with you on the Tohr thing---I can feel some bad things coming, but I can't wait. Does that make me a bad person?

Thank you for the info, Mary Kate.

I'm gonna need to either get a second job or take out another mortgage on my house just to pay for this "habit" of mine. *g*

I suppose it could be worse. I could be addicted to shoes. :o)

And as for the warning, Mary Kate, I like a long book because I feel like I'm getting my $$ worth. If it is a shorter story then I'm done with it in one day and I'm off to spend more dinero of another book.

I'm saving $$.

OK, it's a stretch but so far it has kept the DH at bay. *g*

Good Lord I feel so left out LOL. I actually do have both books in my tbr pile, and the reactions from you guys is so strong I might just have to take them along with me this weekend on my trip - maybe I'll even get a little time to read :)

Michelle Buonfiglio said...

Oh. I forgot about the Butch issue. Gosh, a human. But he's got the tortured thing goin, too. What's with the Tohr thing, though. What did I miss that worries youz, Manda and MKate?

I do recommend you move them to the top of your pile, Stace. Even a little time with Wrath and Rhage is better than none at all. And your husband will than k you for it.

Good justification on the $$ think, JulieO!

amy*skf said...

Stacy, take them. Just in case. Seriously. No, really.

Marykate, I remember that question and didn't she say, she writes what she has to--or rather what the brothers tell her to. I'm a lurker too.

Mandacoll, pretty sure I'm in line for apprentice. Okay, not really.

Julie, get the books, borrow the books--somehow read the books.

amy*skf said...

Michelle, what was the neo-gothic story--was that me? You'd tell me if I actually did have one?

Ha--we posted at the same time.

And the thing with Tohrment is he's already with Wellsie...

Stacy~ said...

Okay, okay, they're going in the suitcase...

Michelle if I had a husband, I'd make sure he was happy for it ;)

Valeen said...

Oh My God. HOW did you get that?? I need your connections. LOL

So far, Zsadist has been my favourite and I can't wait to find out about his tortured past. But there are many hereos we haven't even met yet so maybe there will be another.

Valeen said...

and if Tohr is to get his own book, which he is, then something has to happen to Wellsie. Which is going to hurt to read, I can tell now.

I'm so interested in how she pulls off Butch's story.

MaryKate said...

Michelle - Well, Tohr is happliy married to Wellsie and Wellsie is pregnant, right? And most female vampires don't survive childbirth. And she has confirmed that Tohr IS getting his own book. Sooooo, that indicates to me that Wellsie isn't going to survive childbirth and Tohr is going to be matched with someone else. I love me my Tohr, and I just hate that he's gonna be hurt. But as JR has said, the books right themselves, so I guess she's gotta do what she's gotta do.

It just makes me sad.

Hey there Michelle & Posse...

I'm away for a few days and all sorts of great chattin' is happening here... :)

Anyway, I LOVE JR Ward's books and am green with envy that you've got your hands on her next book... It's a good thing I don't know where you live... OK I'm just kidding!

To answer your questions:
Wrath is my favorite brother.
I'm a seriously picky reader, so usually if I don't like a book, I don't say a word about it (last thing I want is to hurt any author's feelings). But since I do LOVE these books, I have to tell you, there are two things about them that absolutely drive me NUTS!

1. The bigger evil -- the laguage/conversation! I swear if I didn't remind myself constantly that I was reading about a bunch of immortal vampires living in an elegant mansion, my mind kept drifting to images of an MTV-worthy "crib" with a bunch of hip-hop/rap royalty kickin' in in there...

2. I find the names of the brothers infinitely annoying!

That said, I LOVE the intesity of the stories, the suspense, the strong emotions, the many great characters. YES I will continue to buy/read them, as well as recommend them to others!

exactly what amount of money, and i am talking in the hundreds, thousands,etc....would i have to pay to pay to get my hands on that from you? and I am REALLY NOT KIDDING?>

Michelle Buonfiglio said...

Hey, Davis: I SO know you're not kidding. And, believe me, I think I could start a college fund with the offers I've been getting. But, as I've said, I'm on triple double-secret, uh, secrecy not to divulge plot points, etc. More than that, I'm kind of fond of my rep among authors and readers, and never sell ARCs.

That said, pre-order the book and come here for JR's blogchat Sept 4, the official release date of LA. She'll prob be doing a LIVE blogchat hour like she did for her last release.

Come hang with us more often...

me, davis again and this is davis again. my mom is not expected to make it until sept and would love to read the third installment of the jr ward book, which is why i'm will to pay a high price, not to sell it on ebay. what do you think is far? please consider this request? thank you soooo much.

Michelle Buonfiglio said...

Perhaps, Davis, you should make your plea directly to JR. www.jrward.com She may be moved by your plight. I, however, am a weeeee bit leery and still won't sell you my copy.

Anonymous said...

Mb, davis,,,,thanks so much for your comment. it's sad that those out there who would use something like death as an excuse to get a book....a book for petes sake! and i may appeal to the author herself, but I read slow and it would have to read it out loud to her. not that it means much, but it wasn't a line, only a request and i do respect your answer. i enjoy your blog and will continue to follow.again, thanks for your time!

Anonymous said...

and just so you know, i'm not some sleeze.....i'll buy the book when it hits the stores in sept like everyone else and discuss it with all of you, (certianly wouldn't want to put your job or rep in jepordy). I asked b/c of her, not me. but rules are rules. I got a arc of a sherrlyn kenyon book once and got offered over $2000 once. never sold it either. so im not a bad person. thanks!

Michelle Buonfiglio said...

I do believe you, and I'm glad you appreciate my position. Good for you for hanging on to that ARC. Glad you'll come visit again. :)
