Exclusive Excerpt: "Kissing Midnight," By Emma Holly

Just for you lusty, cheeky Bellas from our friend, Emma Holly, an exclusive, adults-only excerpt from her June 2 release, "Kissing Midnight," the first installment in Emma's red-hot “Fitz Clare Chronicles” vampire trilogy. Soak up the heat, cool down at your leisure, then snap up the trilogy fast as you can!

The Imperial

The Imperial was Sally and Ben’s favorite cinema: gaudy but comfortable. Families crowded it in the evening, but that didn’t bother them. They liked to whisper comments to each other during the film, and the general noisiness made it less likely that they’d be shushed.

Usually they sat together off on their own, toward the front or back depending on their mood. Tonight, to Edmund’s dismay, they’d chosen to sit bookending him and Estelle, with Graham taking the seat in front. Edmund adored his family, but their proximity made him itchy now. He’d become too used to hiding the existence of his sexual appetites from his children.

Determined not to let all his hopes for the night be dashed, as soon as the theater darkened, he took Estelle’s hand.

He smiled to himself when her fingers curled between his, amused by his own happiness. Such a simple pleasure this was. Human warmth. Human affection. Nothing could match its wonderful innocence.

And then Estelle crossed her legs, the faint rasp of her hosiery striking a match to his libido.

He clenched his jaw and ordered his eyes to stay on the screen, where a horde of women in bathing costumes were, for reasons unknown to him, forming their bodies into giant flowers in a deep blue pool.

Estelle crossed her legs the other way.

Blast, he thought. His touch must be arousing her. He had her right hand in his left, and flashes of her thoughts were shooting up the link. She was asking herself if he was hard (he certainly was then!) and remembering how warm and satiny his cock had felt on her tongue. That was disorienting, to say the least. He squeezed her fingers in the remote hope that this would...

I have been waiting a loooong time for this series to come out. I am a big fan of Emma's books, and can't wait to read them. Thanks for excerpt, makes waiting a little bit more bearable (but not much).

Buongiorno, Bellas! Happy Monday, and what a way to start! booklover, I'm with you. But your wait is almost over. It's really nice of Emma to offer us this little snippet, well, almost a whole chapter, actually. :) I'm really glad you enjoyed it.

Is it terrible of me to mention that I just finished the second of this series over the weekend and it makes the wait for the 3rd kinda impossible? I just love Edmund Fitz, and I think it's really cool that he's this totally hot vampire who's got these kind of single dad issues to work around while he's one of the most powerful upyr in the world. His kids are driving him crazy!

Haha, David, I totally believe you! I really think most men think like you do but you're sure the first one I've ever heard admitting it. *snicker*

Thanks for checking out the excerpt! (And thanks, Michelle, for asking for it *g*) It hit me today that there's only two weeks to go until Kissing Midnight's release, and I am excited, too!

David, you are obviously a man of great intelligence and sense. No wonder Michelle likes you!

Hi Michelle, Hi Emma!
When I heard about these coming, I've been excited since! These related to the other books?

Makes me want to pull out a book and do a re-read! I haven't missed one yet! Thanks for all you do!

Buongiorno, Bellas! Estefanie, very glad to have you here. Are you new to Emma? Gosh, lucky you, you have all her books to read through! Edmund Fitz Clare has been in a couple of her "Midnight" novels that feature the 'upyr' vampires. It's very cool to see him getting his 'story.' He's such a big character -- enough you cheeky Bellas -- he gets a whole series, and, man, can he sure handle the amount of ink it takes to tell his tale. Talk about larger than afterlife. :) You have to let us know how you enjoy the book/s.

Awesome, Gannon! I take it your review will be favorable and you're probably reaching for #2 as we speak...

Ah, Dave, we appreciate your speaking on behalf of Your Peeps.

LisaK, it's funny cause I once tried to do a little anecdotal survey of husbands to get them to talk about how their wives' romance reading affected their lives, but had no takers. Guess I've worn Dave/Male Perspective Guy down enough to get him to admit the truth.. I guess we just feel happy for those other guys. Of course, there was a very funny kind of reverse experience last year at Romance Writers of America during the awards ceremony when an author who'd just won thanked her husband for all the great sex! Pretty much every woman in the audience laughed then sighed. he was the hero of the night...

thanks for stopping by, Emma! I'm all wrapped up in the happy/joy of the pre-release (of the book, but not necessarily not referring to the excerpt) and looking forward to much success for you.

Yeah, ames. I've seen your Holly collection.

hiya, caffey! Why do I always want to spell your name like coffee? sorry. Yes, the books are related to a couple other Midnight books, I think "Courting Midnight," (a fave of mine) and another. Pretty sure you can find out at www.EmmaHolly.com. Do you have fave Emmas? All U Can Eat and Fairyville come to mind for me...

off to write a little...
